and let's not forget the incoming **** storm of mining ships cap which will cause any ship other then skiff\proc to be stupidly hard to cap manage.

Um... what?

What the heck are you talking about? The cap amount and recharge rate on the barges is not being changed.

But the cycle time for barges is being reduced, which in turn will lead to slightly elevated cap usage. I don't see it being a huge issue, although it could mess with some delicate stable tanking fits.

Only miners could find a way to complain about their isk/hr being buffed.

It's not buffed. base bonus to yield per skill level is removed, role bonus to yield is nurffed to match current 1-2-3 strip miner set up. in case of mack\ret their yield is nerfed as well.
And no need to engage in personal attack on gameplay style... I'm for example heavily invested into mining right now skill and assets wise, I do enjoy it ( I do not AFK!) and same as I don't come with ridiculous accusations based on other players preferred playstyle I expect same treatment for me.
Stick with the topic please.

Adapt?
Other ships sometimes have to fit cap mods to be stable. I don't really see a problem with having some diversity in mining ship fittings.

Or you could use a three link orca. That solves your cap problem. You know that link no one uses cause its currently useless? I mean CCP has said they want to make all modules useful. Oh and BTW ROF bonuses are better overall than yield /DMG.

For a miner, too much is never enough.

Weak argument... only one industrial frigate (ok, soon 2), a bare minimum in industrial capships and no T3 hulls is hardly "too much". All we want is more diversity/options in industrial ships in general... not just mining, mind you.

I don't get this obsession with T3. I even hear of people suggesting T3 rigs. What would a modular mining barge offer? A mining ship that can tank fairly well, has fairly good yield and has a sizable cargo bay? Yeah no thanks. True working with other people.

This one's a bit over the edge guys.

Mining ships don't need buffs. The profession needs mechanics that will encourage (read: require) cooperation. Mining oddly stands out as the only single player activity in EVE.

I'm kinda mixed on the new boat. Though I'm pretty sure this thread is going to be locked, in favor of the official dev blog thread for it. On the one hand, mining in lowsec is dumb. Even if you make a decent isk/hour mining there, you've got to pull enough volume to justify it, and at the end of the day, you've still got to haul it all home. On the other hand... SHENANIGANS!

TBH, a modular *profession* ship rather than a modular *mining* barge would be pretty cool. For example, the subsystems would revolve around mining, transport, gas/hacking, and utility functions (covert ops capabilities, tractor beams, scanners, command modules), just to throw around ideas.

That said, the recently-announced "Prospect" was something I've been wishing for for many years now Big smile

well,
2. Because the ships will get cycle time and not yield time bonus it means = more cycle. More cycles means = more damage to mining crystals hence create a problem.

I hadn't thought of that but it's true.. I have been saying for years that training the ore skills up should be lowering the crystal damage rate. Maybe it's a good time to add a hefty reduction in damage for training to level 5.

Guys,
I've linked a thread from F&I forum filled with wonderful ideas about modular Industry ship (mining\salvage\etc..) which can be fitted to meet the needs of the job.
As I've said right now it's dead end on mining \ salvage path with same mechanics for all of them...
Anyone here will be serious miner\salvager and use drones instead of the module ? none. why? why shouldn't indy players have some options instead of getting bot like "do this or get 90% less" ?

We want some diversity... Just look at the combat ship options, in the "indy" expansion we got 3 pirate COMBAT ships why not some indy ships? venture covops? be serious...
With 10km3 ore bay even if u ninja arkonor we are talking about 625 units * 4400 (jita price) we are talking about an haul of 2.75 mill... I can do more then that on my proc\skiff mining scordite in highsec.
So if isk factor is not in yet (yes I read they will inject abc ores with stuff) then fun factor you say... ok I'll get disposable clones then I need the prospect which according to the T2 frigates current prices will be 20-30 mill for hull, then you need to fit it with some extra 10-15 mill let's say and then get scanning ship and find a WH or!! go into low\null for long trip.
Once you finish that trip you need to haul it safely back to somewhere you can sell\refine it and all of that under threat of getting pop'd....
I don't see the magic in ninja mining much as it looks right now, not very time efficient and the small reward will not be worth the effort, sane as I don't do L2s for fun...
as venture already had warp core bonus was it so hard to make "cruiser" for ninja mining something which can haul amount of goods that justify the work? was it so hard to make "refining" module so I can refine on this ninja missions to save cargo space and make them longer > hence making them worthwhile?
you get my point .. I hope...

they can't mine.
they are like command ships without weapons.
best they can do it's some mining drones but it ain't viable...

Dude you don't know how right you are.
I tested on EFT and mining rokh is sick sick sick.
problem is that the cargohold can't hold full cycle of 8 guns hence need some stupidly sick micromanage.

I don't fly an orca but even right now proper orca pilot won't let you just kill them they'll park inside POS shield or something..

I haul in one. Those hull rigs are going to make the Orca pretty much unprofitable to gank. You'd need to be carrying some ridiculous stuff to warrant a gank in one once those rigs hit TQ.

Could always use it as a cloaky mini hauler for jet cans. A gang of 3 procurers and 2 prospects sounds like fun. A single cycle from the procs would fill one prospect. Cloak up, run back to station, and if the round trip takes longer than 3 minutes that's what the second prospect is for.

Ya I thought as much,
sounds romantic to have 1-3 prospects stealthy sneak into null\Wh to steal some rare ores\gas something but not worth the effort...

BUT prospect sounds like ultimate suicide ganker scout.... go stealthy on 0 m from miner > main ganker warp on scout > win.
