NPE is incredibly demanding. I put the effort into this game and feel like ive only just scrapped the ice. In eve, i dont go 5-10 minutes without asking for a description about certain factors of the game.

The main deterrent, is going into ISIS and checking those requirement timers. I do not start a new game, thinking "Okay im going to absolutely master this over the next 10 years of my life".

Either introduce 50x more content to fill in the 40 days of nothingness waiting for an exhumer .... or increase the number of skills trainable at once to 3. Regardless of what i do in this game, i dont think i can stick out the same old routine with almost no change.

That, or provide a list with literally all possible activities a "new" player can try. cause all i can see, is mining and level 1 missions. Try and tell me that is appealing for 1 month.

There's 50x more to Eve than flying an Exhumer. That has to be the most boring goal ever!

At a quick glance I see a whole bunch of activities that a newbie can engage in with a minimal amount of training (5-20 hours). Do note that it is not required to have skills at level 5 for them to be useable.

Around 6500 but for the death of me I can't remember if that number includes the WH systems or not.

318 to be precise (I have a spreadsheet for that, a by product of the ship collecting hobbyCool). Although, granted, there are quite many that are difficult to obtain.

I have a sinking feeling he is looking for a traditional MMO handholding experience. Makes me wonder how he ended up in DNS.

Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Labs Factory. Hybrid charges, Projectile ammo, Missiles, Drones, Ships, Need'em? We have'em, at affordable prices. Pop in at our Ammo Shop in sunny Alentene.

I did the same thing on my first pilot... I wanted a Hulk! After what seemed like FOREVER I got one and was so happy. Two hours of mining and ummm.... This is boring!

Ah ha! So you're trolling?

I'm a lot younger than you are, and I've been constantly educating myself about EVE.

I've found that it is very easy to start as a new character, but difficult as a brand new player to find a career direction without a mentor or sponsor (friend/family IRL) because EVE is so huge and there are multiple paths to enrichment.

The skills that your character starts out learning are very basic and take hardly any time.

The Aura tutorials cover the basic interface (not the overview) very well, and the career agents are good for the basics.

I wish there were advanced tutorials for a) advanced exploration, like scanning down wormhole points and finding player ships in deadspace, but the first I did myself (took a while) and the second I'll come to; and b) Planetary Interaction. When I first heard about this in game my response was "huh?"

There are great community resources, but with the constant tweaks, such as the upcoming changes to industry and reprocessing, some of the older guides out there won't be any help for new players, and the lack of an official manual does concern me.

I got into mining because of all the old forum post and help guides saying how easy it was to get into and how profitable it could be. They don't tell you how boring it is or to what end you're doing it.

What I like about EVE is that it has both depth and breadth. If I get bored doing one thing I can do something else instead. Like I found a product which was easy to manufacture, cheap to make and yielded good profits. I read blogs (well, two) and got some excellent pointers for trading.

If you want something to do whilst training skills before your character is any damn good at anything, the best suggestion I read was to re-do the career missions for the same faction, available from the other two schools, as the faction standings gain is a good investment. By the time you've finished you should have the necessary standings to start level 3 missions.

Fly safe!

actually that was the direction of my thinking when i started with eve. You just dont start eve thinking ill hop into spaceship for a few minutes to chill while blowing stuff up. No matter how everyone is trying to look it that way that luckily is not eve. We dont need "world of spaceships".

Shocked
What exactly do you think will you be able to do with the exhumer that you can't already do with a venture/mining barge?
I can assure you: mining in an exhumer is just as boring as doing it in a venture: You activate the mining lasers and wait until the ore hold is filled up.

I trained exhumers,
I can T2 fit it and use T2 crystals.

by far I can tell you it's the worst thing I've ever trained there is nothing in there which benefits anything else other then mining, also it's repetitive and boring fast..
if you are bored in venture shooting rocks don't train exhumers they are same thing with bigger numbers.

ok here is how you mine properly:

1. get a powerful PC and at least three screens
2. start up at least six accounts
3. buy an orca booster char and a frighter char
4. train up mining chars on the remaining accounts
5. as soon as your mining chars can fly T1 fitted procurers, log in all of them, form a fleet and start mining out entire systems. (your orca booster is FC, your feighter hauls and the miners mine for hours straight).

if this play style does not sound interesting to you, you should not be mining.

I should buy an Ishtar.

7,929 including the 230 Jove systems.
5431 k-space, 2498 w-space

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.
