Surviving a Disco BS in a frigate ?

hi

Sometimes i have cause to pass through Low-Sec space and come up an occasional Disco battleship lying in readiness to catch haulers / frigates / dressies.

So is there a frigate and purpose build people are happy to share ?

ATM i use a vigil with a medium shield extender plus some passive resists. This is my travel fit so it also needs to be fastish and with some WCS

ps. It seems most low-sec small gangs dont generally have a dedicated tackler and only nab the slower or unlucky small craft so maybe 9 out 10 times u can even get away with not using WCS , i wonder !

A Disco BS does some 300 dps so it's a simple calculation of the number of seconds you need to warp onto the gate and jump out x 300 and then compare that to your EHP against his damage type(s).

Any frig with decent buffer can most likely survive one volley of a disco Bs

If there are two however you are probably ******.

Also you don't really need stabs on a frigate for anything.. The odds of being caught on a gate are generally really really low.

I sometimes use agility mods in the lows for travel but i don't really use WCS for anything. The agility mods are only partly about gate camps but mainly about reducing travel time.
The way to survive disco is to use loadups or avoid the few systems where they are common

The best option is simply avoidance. A Disco Battleship isn't large enough to cover an entire gate; usually they will be set up in line with the most commonly traveled route in the system. If you suspect there might be a Discoship on your route (if, for example, you're traveling along a major lowsec highway and there is one dude in local who is flashy red with -10.0 security status and also happens to be a member of Snuff Box), try bouncing off a celestial out of line with the path he would likely be covering. If you can, try finding a celestial within scan range; a 5 degree scan with your out-gate and an Abaddon is probably somewhere you don't want to warp at zero.

Lastly, if you're in an agile ship and warp to a lowsec gate at 100 from an unexpected angle, you can check things out visually and there is virtually no chance that they will be set up to catch you (especially if your travel fit includes a prototype cloaking device).

If in losec, just warp to gate at range, or bounce of another celestial. BS on gate, flashy red? Don't warp to 0.

Any gate with disco battleships can be gotten through with a shuttle, untanked interceptor, or anything else. The only real danger, comes from instalocking lokis and the likes on the other side of the gate pointing you before you can warp off, something you will most certainly not be able to avoid with a large shield buffer tank.

The trick, is to go to your pipeline routes through lowsec, there are only 2-3 that most people really want to use. Go in an interceptor, with stabs, and prop mods, and make warpins offset from the back of the gate, between 150 and 200km behind, below, or above the gate, for each gate, both sides, on the route, where they are in lowsec, then, anytime that you come through in the future, if there are people in local with low security status, blinky red, or just neuts in local, warp to your warpin, then to the gate. the bombers are always in front of the gate, so you will dodge them, avoid the bombs, and get through easily.

You can either tank your frigate, and increase your chance to die to quicklockers,or you can just make warpins one time, and never worry about smartbombers again.

Fly a frigate with more than 4k ingame EHP and you should be safe from anything but the blingiest of smartbombers.
