Future of EVE

The age of Space games has its Renaissance now and many New very interesting games are released, announced or soon to be released. As some Developers has said, now the techonology can make Our visions and dreams come thru.

How will this affect the future of EVE and how will EVE improve the game to counter the flight of EVE players to the New games?

Those who will leave Eve for Space Citizen shouldn't be here in the first place.

Ever play Freelancer online?

Yeah, but no.

Pretty much this.

There's nothing on the horizon that really offers anything EVE-like. It's just the same coddled singleplayer (or shared SP) stuff over and over again.

Watch the FanFest keynotes and you'll come to see why there's really nothing to worry about.

Can you point to a single one?

The only one that I can think of that had a chance to offer anything remotely similar was WoD… and you know what happened to it, right?

ehm, "freelancer online" actually existed, i played it... there were modded servers up. hell, i learned to swear in German thanks to freelancer mp.

the game offered the same gameplay as SC will on launch, plenty of people have already pointed that out.

anyway, as far as new games competing with EVE? no, this game is still the only "social" mmo game in the market, and by social i mean social in the same way the Romans were social, and banded together to wreck the skulls of every other underdeveloped culture they came across, stole their land, stole their women, and had furious monkey sex with their cattle.

point being, eve is still the only game where "social" doesn't mean a like button here and there, but an actual sandbox where people can band together and **** the place up, and that is what "social" means IRL, its the same thing that takes your stuff if you don't pay taxes, or tazes you if you try to molest a park bench. no other game has even tried to construct its own society.

the day other companies realize that that's the formula that has made EVE what it is now, then yeah, maybe that day we can start talking about serious contenders. games like Starcitizen are the polar opposite to what eve is. whats the incentive to building sand castles if retards wont try to wreck them? and yes i know some people might say, "but i want my sand castles to be safe!', and i hope they are smart enough to figure out that their sand castles are usually made up of a bunch of hulks orbiting an orca in highsec... not particularly challenging to wreck, fairly uninteresting to watch burn, and no one will miss them if they leave.
its the goonswarms and CVAs of the world who make the REAL sandcastles everyone wants to **** up, and everyone secretly also wants to be a part of, and those guys will never leave this game for some theme park like SC is.

and if they do, they wont last a week. :)

Sorry, my "no" wasnt a denial of its existance.

It was a denial of its value lol

So, CCP are finally going to give up the ghost with DUST and concentrate on developing Eve still further? Smile

I'm with Tippia here, but I won't deny that there's.... something in SC, altho it's too far away to see if it's good or not. Plus whole thing smells a bit wrong too.

Unfortunately, that "something" is pretty much being trampled by 2 shills in OOPE that won't. Shut. Up.

It would be highly amusing if Star Citizen turned out to be a scam worthy of Eve Online. Big smile

Both of us have played this game long enough to know that only a very small fraction of what is promised at fanfest is ever produced in it's entirety though Chribba Blink
