Maybe time for a Fleet Tender

The Fleet Tender would be a new logistics ship.
Given changing requirements in capital fleet needs, the fleet tender would provide several valuable services:

  • 100k -125k M3 for Isotope storage - not racial specific. Can Mix and Match
  • fleet fitting service
  • bonus to remote armor/hull reppers power grid and capacitor usage - no bonus to range or amount repped.
  • May or may not have the capability to jump (no bridging). Would not be capable of Black Ops Jumping


The hull of the Orca would be well suited for this though racial flavors of battleships could be used (the larger metric capacity reducing armor and shield capacity while bumping structure a small amount).

Thoughts?

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

Support better localization for the Japanese Community.

That may be a good role for Deep Space transports: A hauler to accompany fleets and supply ammunition, charges, paste and above all isotopes. Also good for hauling back spoils of war.

So.... a rorqual?

Jump capable
100+Km3 plus cargo hold. 40Km3 corp hanger.
Ship maintenance bay, ship fitting service.
6 high slots, power and cpu for capital sized mods.
can fit/run multiple gang links, including combat, not just mining.

Even has heavy tank and 2x drone damage so can put out serious firepower with 2x5 sentry drones.

The rorqual may be called the "industrial command ship" but there is no reason it can not be used to fill the role of combat command ship/fleet tender.

A Rorqual would work as well, but strikes me as less background combat fleet support than industrial fleet maintenance. The orca has more flexibility in where it can travel than the Rorqual.

Still, good thinking, what if it was the Rorqual, should it keep the Clone Vat Bay and have the ship maintenance bay accept more than industrial ships?

if it can fit capital RR (or capital repair, and any damaging mod) - it should not be allowed in HS

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

Good point. If it were a BS or Orca hull, that would have to be limited.

Maybe even have a resupply drone that when the pilot presses the Resupply Button when the Tender is in fleet the Tender pilot would load a drone up with the requested ammunition deploy the drone and then set the drone to assist the pilot requesting the ammunition. The Resupply Drone then docks with the requesting ship offloads the ammunition and then returns to the Tender.

I'd like to see deep space transports beefed up to Marauders.

One the support fleet is down you can just beat them down.

A carrier running logistics for ships in the system... that would actually be pretty convenient and fun.

Fighter A > Jetison cargo by pilot B > fighter warps off > fighter gets on grid and flys to the pilot > jettisons cargo > returns and docks with carrier

The issue with that is vulnerability. You want something that has to be present with the fleet when it resupplies the fleet so that is it clearly vulnerable. But like the support drone mentioned earlier, it would not be too far fetched to even add a support shuttle - fighter sized, that functioned along a similar set of lines. Most likely with its own skill sets as well.

But carriers cannot move through high sec, the idea of using the T II orca or a BS would be to allow high sec movement.
