Also notice how on JC's killboard their pie chart with the most amount of red is "points"

This is because points are awarded mostly for solo fights and against similar-sized and tiered ships. In other words, most of JC's kills come from blobs, camps, or just bullying weaker ships.

I think Starbuck 05 pretty much summed it up.

Here is my experience from when I used to pvp in low sec.

For Pvp, if you mainly fight in plexes pirating is better. Not only do you almost double your targets, you can have several bases so you don't need to spend so much time reshipping.

If you want to gate camp or fight on gates then militia might be better. I rarely would do either so this wasn't really a benefit.

As far as money, when I was in fw I never really wanted to wait out a plex timer after I fought someone anyway. No one is likely to show up since most militia will not even know you are there.

If I wanted to spend time making money I would get in a stealth bomber and run fw missions for the winning side. That is still what I I would do I started using an alt for that.

thought you took a leave from forumposting, hoped it was an unlimited one, left disappointed

Hi ..

Noble sentiments throughout, but you must account for human nature in your consideration.

Joining FW for PvP primary and ISK secondary has a tendency to backfire when the numbers start flying by in wallet, many a well intentioned PvP'er has been reduced to base farm-hands doing little beside grind plexes/missions.
Is of course possible but will require some willpower on your part to keep the pew primary.

Militia pilots generally run from flashies because they have a reputation for "cheating", with link abuse being the primary form closely followed by the ever popular gang-bangs.
Again it is possible, but you need to build a reputation of fighting "fair" before the general population begins to stay their ground instead of heading for the hills at the first sign of your particular disco light.

The single most prevalent reason for fight-that-never-happen is assumption; PvP'ers (pirates included) assume militia pilots will run and thus doesn't bother while the latter assume PvP'ers (pirates included) have links on some neutral in local or friends nearby ready to trololol.
Sadly those assumptions have grown out of past events (Oh God, neutral T3's EVERYWHERE! Big smile), and until some sort of general consensus manages to reverse the habit of all involved to want to stack the deck in their favour the amount of tantric sex good, random PvP where both parties are satisfied regardless of outcome will be limited.

Best suggestion is: to join a militia and do your utmost to prevent the slide into farming. You'd have access to what is probably the largest, most reliable revenue stream in EVE while retaining the option to pirate wherever and whenever as long as you refrain from popping your own militia (or has standing thumb-screws been tightened in some way I am unaware of?)

.... this thread smells of epeen BADLY .

That said being pirate or fw both has it's advantages and disadvantages.Join FW and try it , don't like the amount of targets or something else switch to piracy . No one else besides yourself OP can decide wich one suits you better .

Everyone likes different playstyles and what might seem a ''small sacrifice'' for one is a ''pain in the ass'' for someone else.

Well I get nowhere near the number of kills that some of the guys posting in this thread get but I can honestly say that being in FW doesn't have much effect on how many fights I get tbh. (so before anyone fancies having an epeen contest my kill stats are hsite! Lol)

I have been in, out and hanging around FW and Low sec for the last 3 years pretty much solidly (apart form a couple of months trying to find fights in high sec but we won't say much on that!) The simple true IMO is how active you are in finding/forcing your fights? If you 'spider-up' and lay in wait then you will only get the number of fights that your area's activity supports. If you are out there finding your fights or have a decently active corp etc then you will get the fights you want.

I would suggest that you try Fw and see how you go and what variation you get from being a pirate. I am back with the 'Rebels' as tbh I got fed up with the majority of militia pilots as they are by far the most caustic playbase imo by a long shot. So I'm back being a pirate and enjoying it.

Fly dangerous, cos safe is boring! o7
