Apocrypha level expansion please?

The Apocrypha expansion introduced wormholes into new eden, it basically introduced:

2499 new systems accessible via a new mechanic.
New materials which brought in fresh industrial/researching processes.
New NPC's and AI which provided challenging gameplay.
4 new modular ships with a thousand combinations before fitting modules and rigs.

Will we ever see an actual expansion to rival this? I've read plenty of great ideas players have posted on the forums which would be amazing if implimented, but I'm not really seeing any forward momentum with CCP releasing actual fresh, interesting content?

Call me a asskisser but can we at least wait for the expansion to be properly announced before bashing it. Apocrypha was good but its not like it brought that many more features. Besides, it brought in T3s with about as much care about balance as a bank robbers concern for a baby. This expansion seems pretty extensive to me. Six new ships, industry revamp, further tweaks to ships, new modules, and who knows what else may come in in the 1.x versions that follow it is quite reasonable. I'll take smaller meaningful iterations over piles of new features hastily done any day.

Well, expansions are always "pretty extensive". There's always a lot of content, rebalance of old things, etc. CCP aren't lazy. But I definitely see where the OP is coming from and I agree with him when saying that expansions nowadays can't compare to Apocrypha : that expansion simply added two completely new dimensions to the game, with wormholes and T3. Something that had never been seen before. It just came out of nowhere and it was big and awesome, even if not perfect overall.

Nowadays, even if there is a lot of good work put into improving the game and its existing features with new expansions, there's really no "amazing" factor. Things are being revamped in a good way, but CCP are just a lot more prudent since the whole monoclegate disaster of 2011. Sometimes prudent is good, sometimes crazy and innovative stuff would help aswell. And that doesn't necessarily adding new content, it can also be revamping something in a very aggressive way, completely changing the dynamics of certain parts of the game.

Please no. I couldn't play EVE for some time because of how broken the game was after that sloppy excuse of an expansion. Also we were promised this industrial expansion years ago, so I'm certainly not going to ***** about a long overdue overhaul to core industrial mechanics and interface after this long of a wait.

As much as I loved the Apocrypha expansion and would love to see many more expansions like it, this industry expansion is long overdue. Having a good industry expansion and it's follow up point releases in place will make the game all the better when CCP does unleash it's next Apocrypha.

Thing is, CCP has already stated they're not doing huge "all in one go" (aka "Jesus Feature") expansions anymore, because of how poorly many of them were -- culminating with Incarna.

So now, instead of one massive expansion, we're getting it broken out in a bigger (and IMO, better) arc, so there's time to actualy progress some semblance of storyline with the empires.

I mean, seriously ... while many past expansions were great, there was little (if anything) to do with New Eden as a whole (or rather, they didn't really touch the storyline). The newest expansions are starting to move the story (what little of it there is) forward, and making New Eden feel alive again...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

yeah the most well received expansion was crucible, which was a bucket load of improvements, fixes and balances. Ever since i started playing this game players have been asking for the existing game to be fixed and brought up to standard rather than more new stuff.
