Anabella, I have recalibrated my sensors, particularly my spiritual ones.

I'm more interested in what that cube is made out of. It appearently crossed through the gate, survived the collapse, then spent millennia in space and everything inside still works. I want to armor an abbadon in that stuff.Shocked

Claudia, good point.

But I'm not sure if the cube came through the gate. All I know at this point is that I found it in the New Eden system. It might have been brought through the gate in another vessel.

Still want to armor my abbadon in the stuff.

Why are all these cults so damn dour?

It's all "come to this obscure meeting, wear this odd robe and drink this strange liquid. Hope you didn't make plans for tomorrow!"

Just once, I'd like to hear cult preacher say "Our alien overlords demand that we get wasted and visit a raunchy bar!" But no.

It's disappointing frankly.

Join the Cult of Claudia! The great Goddess Claudia demands tributes of blood via drunken brawls held in shady establishments!

Claudia. Repent!

BTW: The original quote from The Message is, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."
Money is a great tool but a terrible god.

I have nothing to repent for.

Also. My verson of the quote is better.

Yet. Lure followers in with the promise of peaceful knowledge seeking then write a mandate to destroy any who would stand in their way. That mandate will later be re-written to destroy any who challenge their beliefs.

On closer inspection, I have another bone to pick.

I fear I already know the answer to this question, but are you aware that the Eve Gate is a collapsed wormhole? A big bundle of radiation, quarks, neurtrinos and other space-y, science-y wotsits?

In simple terms, a big ball of shiny, unapproachable energy sitting in the middle of space that doesn't have "markings" on account of not being a literal gate?

Have you even been to see it?

N'maro, please check out this GalNet article: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_gate_%28Location%29
Here's a snippet from the article.

"The gate is fairly plain all around, but there are markings here and there, in some ancient language that has not been fully decrypted. At the top, the largest of these markings is a three-letter word that says EVE. There isn’t full agreement among scholars about the meaning of this word, but most people regard it to be simply the name of the gate."

And I have been to the New Eden system many times. Smile

The simplest form of cellular automata is a one-dimensional array of cells each of which can take on a value of
"0" or "1". The state of the automaton at time t+1 is determined by the current state of each cell and a "rule" that
governs how the t+1 state of the cell is calculated. An example rule might be: "If the current state is 1 and the state
of the neighbor cell on the right is '1', then the state at t+1 is '1'. Otherwise, it is '0'".

Even simple automata can generate complex results as the automaton develops from generation to generation.

Cellular automata can be two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and so on. The value of each cell can be an
arbitrary number, practically speaking.

Cellular automata are used to model a variety of dynamical systems such as the growth of plant or animal
populations.

I have used these to model the development of various aspects of language as I have described earlier.

There is a pretty large discrepancy of scale in these images... It's easily tens of meters across compared to your cruiser, yet the size of a coffee mug as shown in your quarters. As well as the images of the floating object being identical from two different angles of view. If there is an explanation, I'm open to it... Preferably, I'd rather see the object itself under controlled conditions.

Gosh, sir! You've modeled an entire human-compatible language with automata? That's quite a feat! I'd be very interested in reading about your work, are you published in any journals? I'm sorry if this is forward, but CA is a somewhat related field to my work. What sort of a rulespace did you use in finding your automata, and what sort of search strategy did you use? Did you use genetic programming or did you use some sort of formal algorithm instead?

I'm sorry if this is off-topic to your main thread, sir, but I really am interested.
