Archon.

Thanatos is the worst (Though prettiest) of the 4.

The Coreli Corporation is recruiting.

That's a lie, the chimera is the best looking, followed closely by the archon

This one's a bit over the edge guys.

Locked for breaking... well, pretty much all the rules.

Archon for armor triage Chimaera for shield triage, Nid for repping structures. Thanatos for using fighter to rat (don't do this)

Always depends on what you are doing. If you are looking to do Logi I would suggest either chimera or archon depending on your fleet doctrine...

If you don't have a fleet, erm, don't do carrier. Ain't worth it these days overall.

There is no best carrier in the end, there is tactics, builds, and play styles. Figure how you like to play and who you play with, then look at the ship bonuses and it should be totally obvious which is for you.

With Fighterchanges the Thanny actually might be able to be a decent Pantheoncarrier with decent DPS, we'll have to wait for the changes & caprebalance though....

However, "best" kspace Triage is the Archon if Armor or Chimera if shield ( personally prefering nidhoggur)

I always liked the concept of a Shield Tanked Nid but Armor RR Nidhoggur for solo Triage work when you can't do the cycling in and out of Triage...

But anyway.. of the two you listed, get an Archon.. its the best by a large margin compared to the thanatos (no one cares about fighters.. all they are used for is remote assisting ships with no drone bays).

So thankful that you caught my horrible terminology there. Oops
Most of EVE was probably franticly searching for dev blogs and patch notes.

If you're looking at getting into a Carrier I would very, very strongly recommend you wait until after the Summer Expansion since it's quite likely to completely change the Carrier landscape.

I mean, cross-training is easy enough, but the books are kind of expensive, so unless you don't care about the money I would probably wait to see how everything shakes out before committing to one.

I agree with this, CCP will tweak the carries at some point in the near future so without any solid intel on what their plans are I would off on skilling for a particular carrier (that is my plan at least). I will be skilling the support skills to max levels however so thats an idea you could pursue.

current meta favorites are archon for shields and chimeras for armor. Depending on your alliance you may have a standard doctrine they want.

Or you could be special and skill for what you prefer. Niddy and Thanny can be tanked either way with triple CCC rigs.

This is a solid plan. You are going to want jump skills, drone skills, really really good capacitor skills, and other general supports regardless of which Carrier you end up picking or how you end up flying it. If you know you're getting a Carrier and are just waiting to see how the changes work out before you commit to one, now is a great time to knock off Jump Drive Calibration V! (it is the AWU V of capital ships)

If you haven't been tuned in to carrier news: Fighters might go from being useless to really, really good; the numbers look pretty sweet right now, but they aren't final until the patch hits and we still have to see what happens in a real action. If they end up being as good as they look on paper, it could very well be farewell to Archons...but there's no way to know just yet, which is why I'd recommend waiting.
