Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Should Have Gone To Bed Hours Ago everyone.

So this morning when I started my eve.exe it prompts me to download an update, this update fails to run the launcher leaving me unable to update game and thus play! a sucky situation I am sure you will agree. Below is a step by step what happens and error messages I get for diagnosis.

- Run Exe

- "New Build Available" There is a new build available. Would you like to download it now?

The build is 6.0 MB in size.

- Click Yes

- Loading bar flashes on for a second

- "Verification Failed" The update was downloaded but it failed verification indicating that the file is corrupt. Would you like to download the file again?

You will not be able to enter the game until you download the update

- Click Yes

- "Question" There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:

Unable to download file /590158/evepremiumpatch590158.exe from the server.
Error: url //cdn1.eveonline.com/590158/evepremiumpatch590158.exe not found


Do you want to go to support page?

- Click Yes

The last page it leaves me on seems to be a download the entire eve client which clearly isn't what I want here.

Anyway, this is about all the information I can think of to post, game was working fine about 9 hours ago when I logged off for the night.

You only get that "New Build Available" if you fire up the client directly from the exefile under \bin on patch day.
Run/update/fix your launcheror try repair.

I have used the exe direct since the introduction of the launcher, normally that prompts the launcher to run and update client then i run exe again.

I went and ran the launcher manually and it did the job.

Is there any chance someone could point me at where I could download JUST the patch?

My connection wont allow me to download anything eve related, but will let me play it just fine. I would love you for many moons.

Having somewhat the same problem. Have the Traceback error, but of course I can't copy and past it (HTML not allowed)

When it does download, it's abyssmally slow through the updater. Is there any place I can just do a straight download of the patch and then import it?

I'm downloading at like 5 KB/s. It often freezes for 10 minutes or more downloading nothing. Like now it's at 633.32 KB/2.11 MB and has been for the last 10 minutes.

Bought the steam version on the mistaken assumption that the updates would actually be served through steam like most games. I was wrong.

I am so glad i checked everyone else was having this problem before i had a go at fixing it (aka breaking more)

redownloading the whole game would take me days :(

EDIT: fixed after properly reading a post in here, cheers fellas! o/

What this used to do (a while ago, I am not checking current setup, because that can only end well) was:

-Install a old default launcher package, downgrading your current launcher
-Find out that the just updated launcher is old and download/update the launcher again
-Then finally start updating the game

Two megs updated needed, your actual download was somewhere 60-80 megs using this "method". It also failed a lot. But you knew that already. Cool

So, if you get the update pop-up, close the client and start the launcher. Updating works, remembering my client settings not so much, but hey, it's been only a year.

I flat out cant connect to the update server(IT stupidness it seems).

Id settle for rolling the updates out on steam at the same time they get rolled out to the wider community.

This thread is ongoing and Almethea works hard to get us the patches that fail for many people including 29/04/14
ccp don't seem to want to take responsibility for this problem that no one can work out.
