So, I don't remember how my corpmates and I began our discussion about carriers. But one of them chimed in and said "Get a Super Carrier, you can make some really good isk ratting in them" (He rats in carriers)

Wait What? Does this even happen? I've heard of people ratting in carriers and using caps in wormholes. But Is this the nullbear equivalent of an officer CNR, Or am I just hunting Drop Bears?

The only way I can see it working is assigning fighters to another account and hope that the rats don't move.

Has anyone ever seen one? Or kill one, because obligatory death to all supers.

Yes, these corpmates are usually labelled "imbecile" politely in their title.

Sadly you can't see what ships corpies are in without roles (this should be fixed) otherwise everyone would awox each other.

When they show up on the killboards, there's at least a minute of hush before people run off to troll the killboards on their alts. The best ones go mental and complain about the comments, then waffle on about how it's already replaced. Because they make so much ratting ISK >.>

1. Your corpmate makes Steinbeck's Lemmy look intelligent.

2. Never rat in a carrier, much less a supercarrier.

Reasons:
- you cannot dock in a supercarrier. You either have to log off with you (or an alt) in it or park it at a POS (which costs money and logistical support).
- supercarriers cannot use anything but fighters and fighter bombers. While they will buffed a bit come summer expansion, they will still be sub-optimal for ratting.
- why in the high-heavens would you rat in a 20+ billion ISK ship that screams "GANK ME" instead of a couple hundred mil ISK battleship that can apply its damage better and GTFO faster? Sure... you lose out on the tank... but if you are using range and speed then tank won't matter (as nothing is hitting you).

Yes, it happens. I remember ratting in Tribute a couple of years back and some guy from the alliance using a Nyx in the same system on a regular basis. I was sooo tempted to awox him just for the lols. I probably wouldn't even be banned from the alliance if I did that, but had too many friends within the alliance to risk it.

Back then even supers could deploy sentry drones and rats didn't use to switch aggro like they are doing now, so your drones were much safer. You could do it completely AFK with one account - just set your sentry drones to auto-aggress and wait for the site to be cleared. Since the mechanics changed, you'll probably need another account now to assign drones to.

As far as wormholes go, carriers as logistics + dreads for DPS are pretty much the standard way to go for a higher class W-Space (C5 and C6). The sites there are even designed for capital ships since you have an additional spawn of NPCs if you warp in a capital ship into the site.

And yes - supers do make hilarious killmails.

Not sure if ratting in a carrier is as safe as it used to be since the intie buff/warp changes.

Back in the day, 2010, i had my first nyx, and only, nyx. I used to rat in it, it was very easy. This was before some of the changes came, i would enter a sanctum, active align, launch fighters, switch to drones, wash rinse repeat, warp out

do it again.

Never caught once. The moment someone poped into local i was in warp.

What did kill it, was me listening to an alliance mate and gate camping in it. good times..

But yes it used to happen often

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

From what I understand, smartbombing supers are very good in anomolies because the range when coupled with the ships large size is INSANE.

Also, back before the drone region nerfs (and titan tracking nerf) Tracking Titans were used to rat and could pay themselves off in a VERY short amount of time.
