Corpse Reprocessing

As of now, corpses in EVE only serve as trophies and collectible items. They really serve no purpose and carry no real value beyond the sentimental value to the owner. When a ship is destroyed, part of everything inside of it is dropped. When a capsule with implants is destroyed nothing is dropped. Because capsules with implants often are quite valuable and can cost more than a capital ship, it would only make sense that at least some of the implants should be accessible to the killer. It would be great if players could reprocess corpses (eliminating them in the process) for some of the implants that they contain. The implants are physically inside of the corpses as it is. Corpse reprocessing would make pod kills even more valuable and add a degree of surprise to pvp.

I dare you to place a bounty on me.

I thought you turned in corpses for bounties, should it's previous owner have one on their head.

I could be wrong though. I haven't played in a bit due to school and I was never a bounty hunter lol

People: "You shouldn't burn bridges." Me: "I don't, I bomb them from orbit."

You can't turn them in for bounties.

The high value of corpse implants is precisely why they shouldn't be lootable/salvageable. Once you've got a ship down, is it really worth hundreds of millions of ISK to be able to lock a pod fast? That's hardly a proper challenge given the potential reward.

Good idea.

1+

Not sure how to apply it best though.
Lootable corpse?
Skill that adds % chance to recover existing implants from corpse?
Require a cloning lab for extraction?

I suppose it would kill the implant market a bit, but meh, I figure pvp pilots could use a bit of extra potential profit from kills.

Running with the idea of corpses being useful, how about them being exchangeable for clone upgrades, depending on the level of the corpse clone?

Gets a bit complicated to implement, but I agree its a shame there is no concrete aftermarket for corpses.

Challenge has nothing to do with whether or not implants should be able to be reprocessed. Every time you undock in eve you risk losing everything. That has nothing too do with whether or not items taken out of a station should be available to the killer. The high value of the implants could be countered by high reprocessing fees or the potential to get nothing from the reprocess.

Making corpses salvageable would help combating littering of space with these lost souls. Although there should only be a small chance of implants being salvageable imo (and the skill to increase the chance of course).

And any corpse to date should be implemented with full set of HG implants for obvious reasons Lol

You should only be able to reprocess a corpse into the trade good Frozen Food.

The high value of implants would in part be directly countered and reduced by the introduction of recycled implants to the market.
Pod ransoming would take a hit, if thats even a thing.

Just had another disturving thought...
How about a Drug that requires corpses to produce?
Or a Jovian pirate faction who trades ISK or LP in exchange for clone corpses for their research?

There are probably less than a few hundred major corpse collectors. Most corpses are not picked up as it is. Even with a change many corpses will be missed. Most pods are empty, some have pretty cheap implants, and only a few have really good implants. Given that there would be a slight chance of reprocessing the implants at a significant isk cost, I do not think that this would effect the implant market that much.

I dare you to place a bounty on me.

Attack the pod mail to the corpse, add a cybergenetics lab to pirate corporations anchorable only in low- and null-sec, reverse engineer a corpse with a chance to create a one run blueprint for a random implant in the corpse with skills increasing chance and the number of implants you can maximally gain from a corpse.

no

terrible idea.

when your pod gets breached the pod kills the clone so it can be transferred to the new medical clone. destroying all the implants in the clones head.

i strongly disagree with allowing destroyed implants back into the market system.

are you going to get CCP to add more skills to train?

corpse robbing level 1

brain surgery

implant retrieval

minus 1 wheres my dislike button.
