I've learned that the quote "two things are infinite, universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the first one" also applies to EVE.

I learned that there are systems in a region where anomalies just pile up because no one goes there to clean them out. Found one with 25 anomalies in Tash-Murkon high-sec. Crazy.

Holding the shift key and clicking on a module overloads it. I still am trying to figure out how I missed that addition. lol

Until recently I never used carriers as a triage tool.

A few weeks ago, somebody lend me a Chimera for a POS rep. He took the time and trouble to go through different scenario's and refits with me in case we got jumped and would have to serve as logistics for the attending subcap fleet.

Noobcorp chat channels are a great place to learn new things.
Here are a few of the quotes I've saved from State War Academy corp chat during my time here:

in pvp never use implants

best way to make money is mining

no one is going to gank it in high sec..

never use t2 or faction laser ammo

best thing for a new player to do is train strait into a tengu and sell plex to buy one

in hi sec you cannot pod anyone

I'm ever so grateful for older players who stay in the starter corps to share such wisdom with newbs like myself. Roll

Right clicking on your ships capacitor gives you a option to "recall lost drones".

And there is a option under general settings that merges "ships and items" into the station panel. Why this isn't on my default is beyond me.

Currently building carriers and rorquals. Contact me for a cheap capital ship.

Mine-Apparently you can block entire corps/alliances in chat. (Untested but hope it works for NPC corps)

While the term is actually 'learning curve', I have to say that I find the term 'learning curb' to be strangely appropriate to a game like EVE: if you're not ready, you'l step off the curb and break your ankle. ;)

I'm actually learning things that aren't directly EVE-related, such as what a 'Donchian channel' is and how an economic system functions on a fundimental level.

You can refit off a carrier while in warp with it.

I learned something about ESSs yesterday during a BLOPS fleet.

We had just dropped a ratting carrier in renters space and killed it. All targets left system and my fleet was the only ones present in local. There was an ESS showing and I figured I would just warp to it and empty since no one was here.

Right as I enter warp, my FC informs me that the ESS is the same distance as an anomaly. Sure enough I land on grid with about 70 reds 18-40km away in a 180 degree arc around the ESS bubble. I immediately cloaked before being targeted and slowboated in the opposite direction feeling pretty lucky. I got out and we actually hit another carrier 8 jumps away before calling it a night.

Outstanding tactic on the ESS placement. Put it at an anomaly, kill the triggers and GTFO. Then the ONLY way to use the ESS is to go back in a pod and split the booty. If you go in a ship, you will be aggroed, scrammed and killed. If you are in a pod you can only split because to take all drops tags that you can't pick up.

I love the ingenuity of EVE players. Although, ratting in a carrier is dumb. I mean seriously dumb.

I learned a bunch of tricks from Karkur's UI video. I can't tell you which ones because I've already forgotten them all. Guess I'll have to watch that again hrmmm....

I've learned (or more accurately had re-affirmed) that carebears are simply the stupidest(sp?) of all GODS creations on this planet...

Entered a system where someone was suspect, and a carebear was berating him in local with exclamations of "I'm not going to shoot you so you might as well leave...".

Interesting.

I convo the bear. He rejects my convo.
I email the bear. He ignores it.
I send the bear a fleet invite. He rejects it and blocks me.

Then in local he says 'stop inviting me I'm not falling for that...' and 'if I join fleet you can shoot me...", also tipping off the suspect someone was trying to get a warp in on him...

(shakes head)

I finally probe the two of them down and warp in, just as the suspect gives up and leaves...

F#$ing carebears. Even when you try to help them (instead of shoot them in the face), they will find a way to F##$) it up.

What I learned? Don't help carebears, ever, just stick to the regular scheduled program of shooting them in the face. Shoulda known.
