Not a Whine about PI Taxes

A couple of things I'd like to know about PI taxes are:

  1. Will the value, from which the tax is determined, be dynamic? And is it an average of all products at that teir (P0, P1, P2) or is it an average for that specific item, such a Heavy Metals will have a different tax base than Micro Organisims.

  2. How often is the new value calculated? What is the duration used, if it is dynamic, at the same frequency as the insurance adjustment?

This is not a whine because I'll profit either way, taxes or not, and Eve needed a nice ISK sink anyway.

Anyone know the answers, I'm too lazy to search! Thanks!

They haven't stated (that I've seen) if this recalculation is a one-shot deal or going to be redone every so often, but I do know that meat is a good source of protein.

My hope is now that they've evened out the tariff rates between the tiers - that they leave their hand off the knobs for at least 6-12 months. But they haven't said either way.

Given past history and the :effort: required to re-calculate constantly and hand-massage the numbers to be nice whole numbers, I'm betting that there won't be frequent re-calculations. But, as long as they subtract the export tariff from each tier prior to doing the calculation, it may not go up/down much each time.

Factory PI will definitely need to change in hi-sec. Going from P2 to P3 or P3 to P4 will probably be a lot less profitable then setting up a world that does P1->P3 or P2->P4 in a single shot. Skipping an import/export tariff where possible will become an important factor in your designs.

So, basically, yes, it's dynamic, but how dynamic we don't know yet. If it's set too often the market will never stabilize. If it set to infrequently, then it will, but won't be as effective an isk sink.
