Warping Off in a Random Direction

Here's the situation. I warp to a gate and jump. Once it loads, I sometimes find my ship automatically warping off approximately 1,000,000 km in a random direction.

Here's a couple questions:
1. Does this happen to others?
2. What causes it?
3. Is it something put in to help against gate camps?
4. If so, why doesn't it happen every time?

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

when you log out or disconnect, that's what your ship does

sounds like you're having a hard time loading systems, and the game thinks you've disconnected

Sounds like something about how your client is interacting with the system-switch stuff is triggering the "emergency warp" that happens when you unexpectedly log off.

You should file a bug report, especially if anyone else can confirm the same issue.

Never heard of this. However don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

1.) Buy an intercepter.
2.) Buy a lot of implants (or other sought out items that fit in cargohold)
3.) Make runs to 0.0 to sell products.
4.) Profit?

I've had the same problem recently. I can't tell if its slow connection on my end or something else, but it does get annoying.

if this was a bug, that'd be an exploit. ewarps are affected by warp disruption as normal. interceptors weren't vulnerable to warp disruption anyway, and don't need to use exploits to get through bubble camps

also don't encourage people to use exploits

Check your connection. You might be dropping a lot of packages and the server decides you're no longer there after it dropped you from your exiting system and before placing you in your entering.

Only time I ever saw that was jumping the gate into br-5, during the big titan fight. Jumped through gate in ceptor, warped me straight back to gate, instantly died on landing.

I have had this happen, but I usually lose connection just before landing.
Have never had it do this and not lose connection mid warp.

I had this happen once, but it was under severe TiDi with about 300 of us jumping through a gate at one time. 2-3 others had the same thing happen.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I never had this bug,
but assuming I can still create bookmarks,
it would be actually interesting.

That's generally the only time I've had it happen.

It did happen to me the first time I jumped a carrier into combat though, in B-R5RB. In 10% tidi I loaded system finally as I was 1 million km away from the cyno. It didn't help that the cyno itself was a few million km from the battle, so even after waiting the agonizing amount of time to warp back (which I couldn't cancel because ewarp) I still had to do another warp to get to where the fighting was.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Its from lag during a gate transfer. Long enough lag to loose UDP packets but not long enough to disco you out of game. At least UDP is a bit more forgiving, but has it's limits.

I'm in it for the money

Yup, confiming that when jumping systems mine also sometimes decides to initiate emergency warp. I think its if the system takes too long to load of as stated earlier there is a lag spike. Its actually saved my ship a few time rather than being stuck on a gate uncloaked for a while unable to fight back...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

It's not something I've seen in a long time. Oddly, last time it happened to me, when I loaded system, I was already in the return-warp back to the gate.

I had this the other day when my ethernet cable wasn't plugged in properly. As best i can tell it's triggered by a shoddy connection.

This^^

Had this happening regularly. Got a new router and it hasn't happened since.
