I parked a Mobile Tractor Unit off Jita Station and came back the next day and it was gone. Did downtime eat it or did someone blow it up?
If someone shot it how do I find out who?

Any tips on strategically placing these MTUs would be much appreciated !

Anyone can shoot a mobile tractor unit without reporcussions as for who shot it look up your losses on a kill board. Also no matter where you place it anyone can scan it down.

Just checked it was galasthaifa.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Yeah, don't leave it when you leave a location.

If I'm doing a large mission or a large complex, I won't even drop it until after I've gotten a handle on the targets and know I won't be warping out due to a poor start. Also, I want to make sure someone isn't going to jump in after me and shoot the MTU to try to get my drones to hostile them and then in turn get my rear end shot up.

So, only drop it when and where you need it. Pick it up when you are done.

I checked battleclinic for kills at jita in the timeframe just before I was there up till most recent, several MTUs killed none of them mine, but galasthaifa did kill a lot .

It will show up as a lossmail in your character's combat log, that's the first place to check.

Don't check battleclinic for your losses, check your own in-game loss log.
If you go to your kill log, there's a drop-down menu to switch between kills and losses. If it was destroyed, it will show up there immediately.

This should no longer happen, drone aggro was fixed in the Rubicon 1.1 patch.
Quote:
Drones that are set to aggressive will no longer perform automatic actions against a target if those actions would trigger a new Limited Engagement, unless explicitly instructed to engage that target.

MTUs decay after 48 hrs, so if it was only left out for a single down time it shouldn't be that.

Most likely it was shot, since doing so in highsec only incurs a suspect flag for 15 mins. Did you deploy it hoping to pick up concorded wreck loot from ganks? (When shot a MTU will drop its contents with the same 50% chance as ships drop theirs)

Whats more it will only scoop wrecks that you make yourself so it does no good to leave them hanging around.

MTUs will also tractor & loot abandoned wrecks (blue wrecks).

If your ship is blown up by CONCORD, the wreck is automatically abandoned.
