What about my standing?

If they remove standings completely, I will be sad. I collected 8+ standings with around 15 corporations. While it was more for RP reasons and seeing different places EVE, it's a personal achievement I would mourn losing.

If it was so pointless and useless why have we had it for 10 years?

We did it to accomplish a major objective, which is now given away to people like you.

The Goonification of Eve continues and watch the subs continue to fall. Everything I have seen so far in the "expansion" is pro goon and anti-high sec....and continues to punish long term paying players while rewarding the instant gratification crowd.

If by “given away” you mean “not making any difference since I have had the required standings for since 2008”. You did it because you had to in order to overcome a huge design flaw in the game, same as everyone else. It is being removed because it's a design flaw, and everyone benefits from it.

This has nothing to do with goons. It has to do with improving highsec, and it definitely does not punish anyone unless you have a completely twisted and 100% incorrect understanding of the concept.

People who want to hold the game back and resist good design because it bothers their sense of “accomplishment” aren't worth keeping around, nor are they worth pandering to since they will leave the game sooner or later because of some equally nonsensical reason anyway.

Which is pretty much the attitude I am feeling from CCP.

Good luck growing a sub base with that. An that's your opinion. Opinions are like you. Everybody has one. Just because there are, and were is becoming more like it. people who do things ingame you can't even comprehend doesn't make them nonsensical.

I think that the removal of faction standing for POS anchoring is a neccessity for a comming POS revamp. If CCP wants launch an expansion theme around moon bases this feature has to be easy accessibel for new players. If its not then the feature has no advertising value in context to new subscribers.

Its somehow analog to the scanning revamp a year ago. Before CCP launched it, they made sure, that can be acessed by every player in the game. The intent of the change is probaply one of marketing design and less game design

It's just selfish bullshit.

Standings grinds were pointless barriers to entry for something that should just require skills. Good freaking riddance.

lower sales tax, untaxed refining... probably more if i cared to look it up.

standings aren't exclusively used for anchoring poses.

That's a really good comparison, I'd say.

There's obviously a lot of planned functionality that hinges on people readily having access to POSes to a much higher degree than before. The whole reprocessing revamp alone just screams “so, yeah, get a POS”. It's rather hard to introduce such content if there's this huge stopping-block of irrelevant grinding keeping players away from it all. I'm sure we'll see the same kind of “in my day, it took skillz (read: hours of sitting around) to do this” complaints, but in the end, keeping the old tedium-baased barrier would make it pointless to keep developing that part of the game, much like how all the exploration changes that have happened since Apocrypha rather relies on exploration being used a lot.

the ironie is.. i was about to do it anyway.
sad thing is.. its related to this.

at the beginning of the year i got sick with a throat and couldnt speak for about 1,5-2 month.
in this time all i did was playing dust and eve, because i couldnt go outside, because if i would do it i would run into the risk of getting fired.

the sad part of it is that my girlfriend got so bored of me that after 2 month she left me, because she told me that i should had read and study in that time and not play those stupid games all the time.

so i told a person in my corp that i will take a break from eve (that was 2 weeks ago) and this week he took down the corp pos and stole my fresh delivered datacores and the T2 BPC's that i droped into the PoS the night before, because i wanted to move them the next day.

long story short:
stading grind for the last 1,5 years
finished it when i was sick and lost my girlfriend that i had for 1,2 years and was lifing with for 4month
corp member stole 1bil from me (its not about the low ISK its about the fakt that the second person that i trusted ****** me in 2 weeks)

and now CCP removes the need for the standing.

from my side i have to say that this april was the worst month in my whole entire life.
the fakt that i'm the one who has to pay for the big appartment alone now and that i will only get a 70% payout for the last month, because i was sick for more then 2 month, because of a wrong diagnosis from the doctor also doesn't make me smile.

i know that some people think its awesome to troll and write **** about this right now, but i think those are people who never had a girlfriend anyway.. so yea.. go on. i dont think that it can get much worse.

maybe the next level would be that the house with my stuff in it burnes down, while the company that i work for gets into trubble and cant pay anything andmore and on the way home i get hit by a bus. or my grandmother dies...

i wouldn't even wonder if this would be what happens next week..


Apart from the physical badness of being ill, i think you had a great month.

You found out your gf was a terrible person not worth being with if she got 'bored' of you in that time frame. Imagine if this had not happened, you might have married a *****. You also learnt wasting all your time on games when you could be productive is bad, and all you had to sacrifice was a some internet spaceship items

OP, I'm sorry to hear about your illness and your gf leaving but these events aren't at all related to the changes coming.

Look on the bright side you will still have public jump clone access based on your high standings.
