Dark Matter would be collected from around and inside of a Wormhole using specialized ships and modules.

Once refined and added to the manufacturing process the implementation of Dark Matter would create new processes such as Tech III Ammo, better ship resistances when coated with the stuff, better implants, ect.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, Dark Matter will be used to make T3 mods and such and make Wormholes a key part in the production of such?
Not sure what I think about this... But creating all new mods/ammo would be a huge balancing job.

Is this just a suggestion for the name of a new item?

Darkmatter is worse for protection than air, which can be super heated and ionized to make a shield. Armoring yourself with a thing that is noted for not interaction with matter is insane.

perhaps you use it to make a ship that doesnt interact, as in, its armor has a very low sig radius, since most of it isnt actually there.

Supposedly Dark Matter is thought of as the matter that was first ejected after the Big Bang occurred. Basically the same type of residue that is present after a shotgun is fired.

Since the residual matter of Dark Matter came from a material that has yet been discovered but would have been present around the time of the Big Bang its original form might hold even more value when being used to develop ammo and new mods with.

"Make a new thing you can mine" is a pretty bad proposal on the face of it, since mining is kinda boring.

That said, Dark Matter isn't exactly the kind of thing you'd generally expect to find in big minable clumps anyways. Off the top of my head, I'd suggest that you need to drop some kind of particle accelerator type facility somewhere in space, and it slowly collects Dark Matter over time. In a 'farms and fields' sense, people can attack it to stop its collection and loot anything it has accumulated, so if you want to use them, you'll need to keep them defended.

Maybe a Dark Matter Mining Array for POS that would harvest available Dark Matter in the solar system. Then could be a miniature Dark Matter Mining Array Depot that could be placed anywhere in a solar system to collect any amount that would be present up to 3500 m/3.
