Wormholes and signatures

So apparently people are unhappy with WH signatures, when you open a hole, you're announcing to the world that angry people are about to mess **** up. So here's a fix. WH's don't actually open until they are physically jumped through, this means that if you're rage rolling, you won't tip off your victims until you actually jump into their happy home, better chance of catching them doing something embarrassing and whatnot. HOWEVER, any ship with a Cov Ops cloak fitted, DOES NOT trigger a WH signature in the target hole. So Cov Ops and other stealth vessels can enter WH systems entirely undetected, alone or en mass. HOWEVER, in order to give residents a bit of a fighting chance, if a NON covert ops vessel jumps through, not only does the signature pop up, but I feel that Aura should warn all capsuleers in system that a WH signature has been detected. (after a set time limit, say an hour or so, the signature pops up passively like it already does now)


Now you're probably saying "HOLD THE **** ON, THAT SOUNDS ******* CAREBEARISH!" This is how I see things. By announcing when an uncloaked vessel opens a WH, attackers are encouraged to THINK about their attacks rather than just shove 40 ships in a hole and dogpiling on somebody. There's a time and place for tactics like that, and its called nullsec. Instead of cannonballing into a WH, attackers now have a chance to scout POS's, search anoms, and setup safespots in complete secrecy before calling the down the hammer.


Now after an attacker decides they're ready to **** **** up, they jump in their tackle and this triggers the system wide "oh ****, a WH just opened somewhere and somebody jumped through it" message letting the defenders know that something VERY bad is about to happen. After that, its the same as every other gank and/or brawl, get points, get dps, get km's.




The other REALLY fun part of this, would be the ability of covert ops T3's and SB's to move through WH space almost undetected. A cloaky T3 gang could quite literally appear out of nowhere to mess **** up. WH invasions also get another fun angle, since you could easily insert POS's and other structures covertly with cloaky haulers.



This change would further differentiate WH space from normal space, and encourage even more tactical thinking and planning, and less "point and blob" pvp. Constructive criticism welcome, whining and tears even more so.

tl;dr

  • Wormholes do not open until they are jumped through.

  • Cloaky ships do not trigger a signature on the other side for X amount of time.

  • [*] Normal ships jumping through the hole during this period triggers a single system wide sensor alert.

    It was fine the way it was before Odyssey. Lets just go back to that

    If covert vessels don't create a WH exit how will they get out if the WH is empty?

    That would work too. I'm just looking at trying to continue differentiating WH space combat from lowsec and nullsec. It will always be unique, but we can certainly keep pushing to make it uniquer.

    The hole is there, it just has no signature. If they don't bookmark it, they're SOL till it pops up or somebody jumps through and gives them a warpin.

    We really do not need this, adds nothing of value, makes stuff a pain.

    If anything would make things better, make black holes superhubs 5 additional in 5 additional out.

    More traffic overall.

    And please stop screwing with the wormhole spawn and visibility mechanic.Shocked the idea should have been killed at birth. so no we are NOT looking for this or anything like it. your original premise is wrong .
