What if you fit an Ancillary shield booster on a Vengenace...

You buffer fit with 200mm plates and two adaptives and a DCU and one trimark.

You fit a small anc shield booster (THAT USES NO CAP!!!) that reps through 78 dps and reps over 200dps against Kinetic/Explosive (common from Caldari missile boats and Projectile tier 2).

The fit I was looking at is the following:

200mm II plates
adpative II x2
DCU II

1mn II (downgrade to limited if you need more pwoergrid)
Warp Scram II
Small Anc shield booster (normally a web goes here)

Rocket Launcher II x4
Small Power System Drain (vamp to perma maintain your MWD and point)

Rigs:
Small Trimark (can opt out for calefaction damage mod)
Small Anc Current Router (mandatory)

I really don't interpret this as "shield tanking" since it's capless. I see it as a way as "offsetting" the damage to your armor.

It's not uncommon to see webless anc armor reps + cap booster fits on a vengeance, why not just buffer up and perma-overheat your CAPLESS shield booster instead?

SASBs provide too little to boost to be worth it at all. A web is far more useful and I would switch one of those Adaptive Nano Platings for a SAAR.

It's possible to drop the nosferatu for the Medium Anc shield booster. Now we're talking a 140-300 rep --- capless.

Its not a bad ideea , i sometimes double tank some ships aswell, but in the vengeance's case i would not. Keep in mind its slow as a ship and unless you chose your targets more carefully ull gonna need the web. Also its not like the venge doesnt have a nice tank

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

I've often flown Heretic with 14kehp armor buffers and two Medium Anc Shield Boosters in armor fleets.

In fact, the only Heretic I've lost in the past year was one WITHOUT the ASB, and I guarantee I would have survived if I had them. It's often the only thing between you and death before logi reps you in an armor fleet.

And as you said it's best interpreted as "offsetting" the damage being done to your armor.

You can't really compare the 2. The vengeance can get a nifty 250dps tank from armor reps alone, without links. If I would fly one without a web, then an active armor one with cap boost. No ASB can give you that kind of survivability on this hull.

In fleets: Buffer tank it, if your Logi does not lock you before you explode you should probably kick them from corp.

Really? That seems pretty silly. Not to mention armor reps repair at the end of their cycle. I've had plenty of times where I've flown logi and had someone alpha'd while my reps were cycling.

Aside from that, there aren't many corps with either A) logi4-5 pilots in abundance (or whatever cruiser 5 if you're T1) or B) a large quantity of willing logistics pilots, since most pilots would much rather get in on the kill mail.

Most corps are happy to have a logi pilot provided that they reliably repair targets when asked to and warp/align with the fleet.

By the way you don't want to perma run your MWD, once you get on top of a target you pulse it only to keep in range if your target is AB fit and can pull range on you if you have it off. That is assuming you are not also scrammed by him, probably a dubious assumption at best. Leaving your MWD on in close quarters just makes it harder to stick to your target within scram range if you're orbiting and blooms your signature so you take more damage, don't do that.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

You won't have the resists. Don't bother, that's like trying to protect yourself with a wet paper towel. Anything is better in that slot.

Missiles dont use cap, so to me a saar is a better choice.
And you dont need a scram dispiite what every one says dual webs is so nice.on the vengeance.

If you want to fit ASB then why not just fly a jag?

You'll die and your fit will be laughstock for many podcasts out there.

Worth trying for getting some (although negative) eve-fame.
