WiS was not the cause of Summer of Rage. YOU do some research on it.

It realy depends on who you talk to. Every one has their reasons.

The truth is not dependent on a point of view.

Gold ammo and the "Greed is Good" memo was the cause. You Space Barbie apologists can wring your hands and bemoan that WiS died a rightful death alongside it as a result, and blame everyone else for "not understanding" or being "haters", but it's not true.

Yup, caused by the move to make microtransactions in eve a possibility and move towards pay to win...

How in the actual hell do you think vanity items are pay-to-win?
This robot arm hasn't improved my ship's stats. My eyepatch hasn't improved the tracking of my turrets. My golden pod hasn't made me unpoddable.

I don't think any of you guys that talk about the NeX Store being P2W actually know what P2W is.
But I'll give you a hint. There is no such thing as P2W in EVE. It can't exist in a game that is so actual player skill-intensive. Your ingame stats and the ship you are flying have so little to do with how well you perform. YOU, the player, have to know how to fit that ship, and how, exactly, to pilot it. SP is only about 5% of the equation.

If you want a good example of P2W microtransactions, go play Travian for a month or so. Have a look at all the little buffs you can buy for real money, and wait for someone using those buffs to attack you.

And that's a TAME example.

Walking in Stations died because CCP are **** games developers. After however many years of hoping it's become clear that CCP are completely incapable of delivering any good games. As it turns out, Eve Online was a complete fluke.

I also still hope for some little additions for the already implemented elements of WiS. At least it would be a nice thing to meet another charackter. I suppose that this would not be too difficult to implement.

As this only adds some social eye candy, it's not a harsh thing to others, whose computers are not capable to handle the GPU stressing scenario.

I have never understood the point of 'ambulation' as it was then called.

Walking around just for the sake of it, why?

The reason I'm against WiS is my fear that people will do that instead of undocking in spaceships. WiS has nothing to do with why I play EVE.

I do like the work they did with "Carbon" tho. I saw a trailer about that once and it looked pretty cool. The new character portraits are nice too.

WiS came about when they (CCP) went all Aurum. Bad timing. WiS has a fanbase and will please quite alot of people. But at the time, players were almost forced to decide where devtime went. (WiS + aurum) or (fix current EVE). That lead to a situation where guys like me went on a rage. Since "we' outnumbered the WiS group, it was delayed. CCP made a choice. For guys like me that made up for alot of "failure". I'm pretty sure some peeps in CCP had to HTFU when confronted with so much rage about their latest plans. The fact that they did... +1. The fact that players have such an influence... +10

Since there's a CQ and a carbon model, there's a foundation to build upon. I hope they never do, but if they ever manage to make it happen without giving the impression that "valuable" dev time is wasted... Well... If you promise to undock and play with me every now and then, I'll bring some flowers to decorate your new appartment.

Please let WiS die and stay dead. Very Very Dead.

Not one person can give any compelling reason or gameplay that WiS could add to eve other than pretty animations in between things we can already do.

The drug smuggling element that EvE has but is currently completely broken was supposed to be WiS gameplay. That's what they were saying before the summer of whiners ran the project into the ground.

Summer of rage was about the game being in a sad state coupled with :18 months:, $1000 jeans and Fearless. We were happy to have CCP work on WiS but not till got their priorities straightened out and worked out the massive issues EVE had (and to an extend still has, although a lot has been done).

As an extra I'd very much welcome it, creating more diverse game play and possibly more immersion.

This may seem like a lost cause, but with the announcement of World Of Darkness being canned, it just sparked a thought.

Has there been any further discussion about Walking In Stations or is that a lost cause that got canned as well?

Captains Quarters hasn't had any updates in a long time, and after getting trapped in a station with 7 war targets outside, it also got me wishing I could do more.

What if WIS was on a separate client/server? But still able to link your character, assets, wallet etc.

If there is a discussion about this still, please direct me to it. Or if this can be confirmed as 'canned'... i will quit my wishful thinking.

Cheers.

Removal of PLEX and NEX store, aurum for everything as a microtransaction currency, bought by real money. New shop out of game, available from the character screen, predefined ship skins, clothes, and other goodies there, licenses with function of extending your gametime bought by spending aurum.

Is it the future?

It would be so funny to watch how people will react if you will tell them that "Summer of rage" happened because of microtransactions. Maybe some legendary "golden ammo" where one dev said he was not negative about this, but not microtransactions, they are here today and to stay.

Its all what we have from Summer of rage, WiS like WoD, too much to handle by CCP.

And yet every so often, a new WiS/CARBON based object comes into play - its not been abandoned, neither is it a very high priority. It will someday happen, and I hope it does.

As much as I like Internet Spaceships (it being a Serious Business after all), just having the option of going out into a station, visiting the local bar, picking up a mission from the bar tender (for example) rather than through the mission window, and generally integrating my character further into EVE universe I find it genuinely surprising that people, even after nearly 3 years, are still so set against something that will expand the game in so many different directions - who wouldn't want to watch a Null-G boxing match with friends on a Caldari Station with ships floating past the windows or even getting a spy onto an enemy outpost and sabotaging their manufacturing arrays or even help bring the shields down faster (which could possiblly introduce Station Combat down the line...)

But alas, most people are too interested in getting the pod kills and/or sitting in a station spinning their ships bemoaning that CCP are poor developers (which is an unfair statement - no developer is perfect) whilst ignoring the joys of the system that they could be having.

Walking in station should be dead. With sooooo many other things that need to be fixed in this game how could they justify wasting resources on fluff?

Amazing to see how a simple post can get so heated. Yay forums!

I think it's obvious that there are some player that would welcome the idea, and some players that would kick it right in the b*lls..
So why not have the option to use it if you want or not? Kinda like we have the options to enter captains quarters or not?

Or even the separate client idea? (I know nothing about the server mechanics, please don't shun me)

Many Veteran Eve players would prefer to keep the game as a simple Internet Spaceships game, but should that prevent other players who might like to try other gameplay from joining the Eve Universe? It may open up the playerbase and provide more income to CCP?

Either or, if it come's ill be happy.. if it doesn't I won't care. Like I said.. WOD canned just sparked a thought.

Maybe extending social options in WiS by spending aurum will be a future idea, who knows...
