This may seem like a lost cause, but with the announcement of World Of Darkness being canned, it just sparked a thought.

Has there been any further discussion about Walking In Stations or is that a lost cause that got canned as well?

Captains Quarters hasn't had any updates in a long time, and after getting trapped in a station with 7 war targets outside, it also got me wishing I could do more.

What if WIS was on a separate client/server? But still able to link your character, assets, wallet etc.

If there is a discussion about this still, please direct me to it. Or if this can be confirmed as 'canned'... i will quit my wishful thinking.

Cheers.

I suspect it would be much more fun to walk in stations while alive. But I certainly won't stop you if you want to be a zombie.

The only confirmation there is is that the code assets related to it was 'depreciated by accounting'.

My best guess is that it's about as dead as this thread will be shortly.

Yep, you'll be able to walk in stations filled with vampires. They'll put you in a fresh clone everytime.

Yes, yes it is.

And thank goodness for that.

WiS is dead and I practice my wishful thinking on other games - which actually deliver.

Unfortunatly the player base is narrow minded. Do some research on The Sumer of Rage.

It's only temporarily dead. I'm preventing them from furthering it, until they finally give me my space kittens in my CQ.

WiS was not the cause of Summer of Rage. YOU do some research on it.

The truth is not dependent on a point of view.

Gold ammo and the "Greed is Good" memo was the cause. You Space Barbie apologists can wring your hands and bemoan that WiS died a rightful death alongside it as a result, and blame everyone else for "not understanding" or being "haters", but it's not true.

Not really. If CCP had been able to actually release WIS with some usable content rather than just a little eye candy I bet it would have been a success. Or at least not a total failure.

It's dead.

EVE is in maintenance mode to collect as much profit as possible to fund half-baked
projects that will themselves get left unfinished as soon as they start chasing their next
great idea.

EVE is a good game, but don't expect any REAL new content, just packages of tweaks
and balances, a new coat of paint here and there touted as "expansions".

They shot themselves in the foot when they thought they were good enough to write
their own engine that would be better than any of the off the self ones already available.
Maybe they thought they could save a buck? Maybe they thought they were better coders?
Who knows.

Anyhow, if its a complete space sim you are looking for that uses current tech like the Cryengine 3
that has ships you actually fly, planets you actually land on, and FPS content on the ships/stations/planets
you wont be finding it in the EVE universe.

My favorite dream is the fabulous CEO having billions and billions of ISK to ensure security, wanders into a station and gets back-stabbed by a n00b at a hamburger stand. In other words...walking in station, very bad idea. Want a toon to walk around with? Get a game with toons you walk around with. There's hundreds!

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Yup, caused by the move to make microtransactions in eve a possibility and move towards pay to win...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Three men sit at a bar in Dodixie station, after a long day of AFK mining, they are taking a much deserved break by AFK drinking.
That's when the suave and sexy mohawked man with the smirk that lights up a room walks up behind them... and pulls out his "Catalyst" Hand Blaster.....

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I think CCP realised that the average level of technology wasn't up to running the vision they had for WiS. A lot of people play eve on low powered rigs and so the Devs faced the decision of either toning down WiS, releasing something a lot of the player base couldn't actually play or putting it on ice for a few years and wait for the world to catch up.
