Mixing your Meds...

Proposal (tldr version)
Introduce random "mixing effects" (negative and positive) caused by taking more than one type of combat booster at the same time.

Intro
There are these things in game called Boosters a.k.a. "drugs" that are 1- time use consumable things. They come in various strengths and flavours. Some buff your active tank, others buff your capacitor or reduce your sig radius, etc... They also have some negative side effects sometimes (dependent on skills). Most importantly (for the sake of this idea) they are sorted into three "slots"

Slot 1

 • Blue Pill - shield boosting
 • Exile - armour repairing
 • Mindflood - capacitor capacity
 • Quafe Zero - speed
 • X-Instinct - signature radius

Slot 2

 • Drop - tracking speed
 • Frentix - optimal range
 • Sooth Sayer - falloff range

Slot 3

 • Crash - missile explosion radius

First of all, I'd like to suggest a couple more slot 3 boosters to put missiles on an even keel with turrets. Perhaps even create some more slots for drone and e-war related boosters.

Secondly, the main proposal for this post, I suggest that when multiple slots are filled the drugs interact to have "mixing effects". These could be positive or negative, as opposed to "side effects" which are always negative. Let me give you some examples of how mixing drugs in real life causes "mixing effects".

Case 1 - paracetamol and caffeine
The caffeine enhances the rate at which the paracetamol is absorbed into the bloodstream, thus giving you more effective pain relief. POSITIVE MIXING EFFECT

Case 2 - viagra and laxative
Giving this mixture to a man results in a person who desperately needs to sit on the toilet.... but can't.... because there's something in the way. NEGATIVE MIXING EFFECT

Why?
***** n giggles tbh. Also boosters could just do with a little lovin' after so long with no balancing.

I think I remember getting some Blue Pills from a mission drop somewhere, didn't realise that they were actually useful for something, kept giving a warning when I went to undock with them in the Cargohold, so I ended up just trashing them.

paracetamol and alcohol - much more effective pain relief - but you get drunk a hella lot quicker
both positive and negative

tramadol and morphine - effective OD because they're too closely related
or cocodamol and paracetamol - same

I mean - just look in the BNF - thousands of drugs interact, though not all do:

oramorph, codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen - no effective interactions, so some top notch pain relief (though you can't drink alcohol, the codeine will bung your bowels up, the ibuprofen might give you a stomach ulcer, and the oramorph still depresses respiratory rate)

+1 - certain drugs should interact, but not all

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

That example of real life drug anti synergy made me laugh maniacally.

I think there should be an overdosing graphic for the character...that if they take too many stronger boosters within the same time period or the wrong ones in a certain combination, they have a cutscene where it goes inside your pod, and shows your character convulse, and have some electrical overload and a few things blow up and you wake up in the clone vat...except your ship doesn't blow up. Just having that random chance as an added risk would help keep people off these dangerous, ebil drugs. X
