The only way you will prolly see it is if CCP can sell the IP to another company (ie, Blizzard, EA, Trion, etc)

Whatever isn't tossed directly into EVE will more then likely be sold off.

To delete those files would be stupid beyond any measure, and I'd actually just walk from this game and all CCP game's. If that were the case...

Sure Arcgames/Perfectworld would probably scoop it up..

Yeah, I'm already being called out on reddit over it. Such is life.

Feel free to call me out on this, but out of respect for those who have been let go in Atlanta, and their families, I wasn't prepared to let rumors build over the weekend before we could speak to people, and whoever was posting information was wholly irresponsible and completely wrong in doing so.

There's a time, a place, and a proper procedure for doing stuff like this.

I feel for those people that lost their job in Atlanta, and really hope the CCP higher echelon management understands that since 2006 they are the one(s) that are responsible.

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

Perfectly explains why EA upper management "quit" EA to work at CCP...

I have 5billion ISK that says WoD will be released under EA Games: Microtransaction Everything!!!

Sucks for those who lost their jobs.

I don't think you know anything about WOD.

I would call separating a bunch of rubes from their $40mil very successful indeed.

Id call them rubes if a game never gets made. Until then....

Came a time in WoD ONline that you just had to put a stake in it. Sucks for those who were let go because of this.

It's deader than ever.

The only reason why it was introduced was to

Deflect the inevitable anger EVE players would feel when it was revealed that all development on "FiS" (What we knew of till that moment as EVE) had been stopped to work on Walking in Stations.

I played the beta of DUST - it was awful, that's the last time I have ever thought about it. I heard about WOD and was frankly disgusted that my sub money was being used to develop that game and not the game I paid for and also that Eve was being used as a test bed for something so speculative.

Exploitative is the better word. Do you remember reading Greed Is Good? They outlined that youd be levelling up abilities in the game via real life money microtransactions. Then they revealed that there would be permadeath.

Yeah those two dont go together

I think for WIS to be viable again CCP needs to plan out a few things

1. Trash bin that god aweful engine that is Carbin. Look at alternatives to serve as a platform (Unreal, CryEngine3,ect)

2. Outlining what does the community want in WiS? When I think WiS Babylon5 comes to mind, give the abilty to "Agent 47" somebody in their CQ.

People speculate all the time over such things, as I'm sure you are all too aware. Denying something so publicly, on what often are rumours was an unneeded hit to your credibility, unless ofcourse you were uninformed.

Either way I guess the main lesson is to run a tighter ship on conduct regarding internal memos, nothing is more enticing to this ocean of neckbeards than a little ccp drama.

Good luck to the Atlanta staff, im sure theyll find work quickly enough.

Eurogamer links shouldnt get you permabanned O.o

The original plan was to require real money to unlock character traits and powers. In a game where your character could be perminantly killed

lol Ironically, thats what CAUSED Greed is Good. That newsletter getting out, then the internal "see what they do not listen to what they say" memo

While I feel bad for the Atlanta dev team, I can't help but feel like I should point out that when CCP announced they were looking to buy White Wolf....

I very specifically posted addressing CCP what a BAD IDEA this was. Not due to 'It will take dev time from eve' but becasue 'It will never work out'. To be true to the material it would have had to be the first R (or worse) rated MMO.

I'm surprised it got axed before it went to launch, but that may just be a sign of CCP's financial issues.

Hopefully, they'll at least give us WiS and more clothes to put the already written code to work and make back at least some of the outlay.

DUST, I don't like you.. None of the people I know like you either.. I believe if CCP actually scrapped the idea of an outdated console game and put their effort into making WOD, they would have made much more money off of WOD MMO... Too bad.. It's a sad day both for fans and employees... Now you can make your 16 y.o audience happier with your crappy console game: DUST 514...

Yeah bro I'm mad.. I've been waiting for this game since 2006... So hell yeah I'm mad... All those promises... But who cares.. it's all about dollars isn't it..

But no, I'm not gonna throw stupid threats like : Bro I'm unsubbing.. etc.. I love EVE. Besides nobody would give a flying &@$! about it.

Anyways.. what about a kickstarter maybe? The amount of people who are willing to donate this game is enormous. Hell I've been throwing money at my monitor for 8 damn years, yet nothing happened..

When I first heard about WoD a couple of years ago I went to wikipedia to have a read up and was impressed at the depth of the game. Although I've never really liked RPGs I figured that if anyone could do justice to a game like this it would be CCP. So in a way I'm disappointed it's been canned but if CCP really had good reasons to think it was no longer viable then that's their decision to make I guess.

The idea of DUST seemed good at the start, a vast connected universe of ground players and players in space, just seems to me that it didn't work out either.

At least we still have EO.

Not that it effects me in any way, But handling that the way you did wasn't fair, Really don't understand why you felt the need to come out and try to defuse the situation by lying, it bit you in the arse, But that's the power of hindsight.
