Quick one on PI and Alts

Hello,

I am thinking of creating my other 2 alts for PI just to get more planets. Specifically can I use my main for everything PI related on my alts planets like setup, science and industry tab, etc. Reason I ask is because I want to minimize the skills I train on my alts for this because to get him ready for Lowsec PI would be quite a bit more training. I would like to basically use my main for his planets in lowsec and just use him for the extra planets. I know I cannot completely do this but what minimum skills must he get and how much of his work can my main do for him.

Thanks

Your main's skills will have no effect on your alts' planets. A character cannot maintain another character's planet, cannot place structures, cannot move stuff up to the customs office, cannot fetch mats from the customs offices

So the answer to 'how much work can my main do for him' is pretty much none.

Go one at a time, and give each alt time to gestate before working on another, when you're new. So that you don't bite off more than you can chew.

Also, your first alt that receives training ought to be on an entirely separate account. This allows you to control two characters at once for operations like scouting, hauling, or providing a cyno beacon for the other, maybe even have them in the same fleet to run missions. After you've got your second account, you could choose to start training alts on the existing accounts for PI, or market trading. Beyond those categories, same-account-alts aren't of limited use.

Yes, start an alt training once you're happy with your main. Then whilst that's in progress, have a play around with some PI on your main until you get the jist of it, to save yourself a lot of wasted time doing things 'wrong' on 2 characters if anything lol.

Hmmm maybe a bit much for a new player, unless you have the cash to throw at it then go for it.

If not, find a decent corp to join who can easily help you moving your stuff around.

I've found that low-sec PI isn't worth it, it's about the same as high-sec unless you get deep into low, creating logistics issues.

I have found quite the opposite with lower tax rates and better resources.

PI interface is not very good so all PI alts have to have like Adv. Planetology 4, interplanetary consolidation 4-5, command center upgrades 4-5 + be able to fly epithal with warp core stabs.

Your main can do only hauling from station for those alts. Every alt have to collect his PI from POCO himself. But still you can skill up one alt for this in about 15 days.
