Except neither Dysprosium or Dysporite is spiking.

Could be someone just decided to manipulate the market. If you look at the history, it's happened recently.

Ferrofluid perhaps?

And it's not about spikes. It's about finding equilibrium between alchemy value and raw mineral value.

Obvious manipulation attempt is obvious... but what the Hell, why not. Rampant speculation and WAGs before Fanfest is a tradition around here. Blink

A lot of Cadmium is sourced from low sec moons held by null alliances. The moons are getting siphon units dropped on them which means they now have to be patrolled and stolen Cadmium paid for. This is driving up the price.

I've been using the Siphon units and the turn over is pretty good you can make a couple of bill a day but the grind is boring and its hit or miss if you get your siphons detected by the owner you've lost your investment. CCP needs to lower the price of Siphon units and twerk some changes when they introduce larger siphons.

Cadmium has been slowly trending upwards since July 2012 and started going up faster since April 2013. So either some really long term market manipulation or simply demand outstripping supply by a little bit.

If you were actually able to make a couple bil a day (you can't), then you could easily make up for a few lost siphons.

It was me, sorry. Bought an old school cordless phone and needed to make some NiCad batteries for it.

You can buy/make a siphon for 10 to 12 m isk. Placing one on a good moon Cadmium, Tech or Hafnium above will make yo 12m to 25 m per 24hr. The unit can pay for itself in one day, 2 days and its doubled itscost. If you drop 100 + each day like I have been doing you run the risk of losing 1bn in destroyed siphons, getting your money back if they last 24hrs or anything there after profit, each day is 1bn your units are not detected.

As I say its hit or miss.

I tried this once. Siphoned an entire constellation. Had 80% of my siphons destroyed on the first day. gg
