As I have been in this game around 8 years this has annoyed me all the time.
Eve Online as we all know is mirror of almost real space. Where we have stars / planets / moons / asteroid belts and orbital bodies like POS / Station / TCU and ihubs.
In this 8 years time nothing has moved and here comes my question: Why?

Eve Online space items and bodies are based simple (X;Y;Z) coordinates. It is basic 3D model where you put smaller models in certain points. Eve itself is like huge box, every system has own box and you move around in this box. What CCP has done in passed 9 years is that they have put simple visual planets / moons etc. models into this box and this is the way we see space in eve atm.
Some years ago (I can't remember the names anymore) there was statement from CCP.
"We make Eve Online as real space simulator!"
Everything is fine for me, as I look the Eve Online what we have now. Something is still missing. Game has everything on static stop and this is not the way how it supposed to be.

Concept: Put everything in space constant movement. Planets orbit the stars, moons orbit the planets and orbital bodies like POS and stations orbit the moons and planets.
Yes there comes the issue of bookmarks now. Lets say you had bookmark in space (X;Y;Z) from 200km from hostile pos. In old mechanic this bookmark does not work, because if the pos is orbiting the moon it is 1:1000000... change you ever land 200km from the pos. Pos can be other side of moon on this time easily. But what we can do is we use simple mechanic what calculates distance from X closest orbital body in this case POS 200km off and configures your (X;Y;Z) spot. So if you next time warp to your spot you land perfectly 200km away from pos. If you sit now still the only way to see space movement is to wait.
Space is huge and you don't see things happening in one minute basis. Lets say as you landed to your spot in next hour the pos is orbiting the moon and your 200km spot can be 205km spot.

You might also don't like the idea that if the pos is moving then anyone who is inside the pos sitting still can be moved out.
Indeed, and this is the second side of the coin. To avoid this thing you can use option what you already have (Orbit or approach the pos).

This is just idea, if you have anything else how this can be made better, please share.

Almost stopped reading at "Eve Online as we all know is mirror of almost real space" Shocked

I believe the orbiting planets, moons ans whatever else is considered 'too complicated/hard' for CCP do do.

And what you really need to ask yourself is -

What benefit would having the planets and moons orbiting the sun bring to the Game?
(please remember this is a game, not a real space simulator)

CCP could do it, but what would be the purpose of it? And I'm sure game devs have their hands full already.

Like I told this game feels more realistic and with orbital movement Eve Online would serve it's main purpose: Space game.
Hands full on small details, but on larger scale game visual side (in space) has not changed till 2 days ago with new nebulae.
If we have nebulae concept why don't we develop easy orbital mechanics out.

We already have this in everyday use (Orbit X object). Just need to adjust this little bit.
