Local trading revamped : Blocking

Currently blocking is done on a character level, I want this to change.

  • When blocking a person, I in this case refer to the point of clicking a message in local and block them that way, only blocks induced in local should count towards the global blocking mechanism.

My suggestion is that each person that blocks them, should put a dent in their account. This means that eventually, with enough blocks. All characters from this account will get a global lock from Local in systems with more than x amounts of players (trade hubs)

The limit should be set high, so that it takes a while to generate enough blocks, this would reduce the chance of it being used as Trade warfare. Block count should also decay, so they are once again allowed to speak within a certain amount of time.

For each time they are locked out of local, the decay multiplier should be lower so it takes longer. After enough trade hub blocks, the person should be banned for a short period of time. after which the person will be unable to write in local anywhere on any char on his account.

  • This is not mainly to get at the scammers, because scammers will always find ways to scam and its part of the game.
  • This is a way to get at the spammers, because spammers make the market area local should be, completely worthless.

-> At the very minimum, blocks should be almost like bookmarks with private, corporation and alliance wide blocks.

So Goons can now block anyone they want from saying anything in local?

I really don't think you thought this through.

"Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

Concidering you would:
A: Need to write in local
B: Have enough Goons in local to block you out in comparison to the total amount of people in local.

Yes, it would be possible with enough people to block posting in local for a certain amount of time.

However, this is a balancing issue between making the feature usable and I leave the balancing to the Devs, I have a good feeling they are better at it then I am.

If you have to add a bunch of "ifs" to your idea to make it not easily abusable, then it's a bad idea.

But would this work the other way too?

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!

No. They just log into a crapton of alts/jumpclones and presto, anyone they feel like is banned from talking, just to make a point.

The OP's plan doesn't say anything about having to post in local yourself to do it, therefore the people doing the "reporting" would not be vulnerable either.

It's a pretty far fetched, painful way for the OP to not have to bother with a few mouseclicks to block people, or just not have local open in a trade hub.

Yes, if people in general does not like Goons. They can block them out.
