Multi-kill DD weapons

I'm wondering about Terran or Jovian superweapons.... I haven't read the novels or know about them. The Terran one is seen in this trailer.

What would the consequences be if an ancient Terran or a Jovian superweapon introduced ingame? Say technically in-game the weapon is a one-time use only, and components would be extracted from Ghost/Sleeper sites, ultra rare resources scattered in/out WH space.

what do you guys think if this would happen... good/bad? Arms race? kill fleet blobs and pos faster? aggressive expansion & hunt for new resource and tech? kill EVE?

That is how the orignal DD's the titains fit were. They did 50,000 damage to every ship on the grid.

I think it'd be cool. Unfortunately min maxers would hate unique super weapons unless they specifically were given them.

Would be totally cool to transport a Jovian dark energy super weapon into the middle of VFK in a buzzard n activate it during Mittens morning mass and prayer hour. Even if it it vaporized me too.

the old DDs while broken were alot cooler both visually and just what they did, they were essentially gigantic smart bombs.

Worthy of the name DoomsDay.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

They would become as rare as Titans.

Isogen 5 fueled that superweapon and (according to the lore) a thukker tribe vagabond destroyed an isogen 5 cache to prevent the blood raiders from using that kind of superweapon. In the process they unknowingly destroyed most, if not all, isogen 5 in New Eden and beyond (and as a side effect started the creation of naturally occuring wormholes).

Since the old DDs were rebalanced and there is no more isogen 5 to fuel a superweapon like Jamyl Sarum's abaddon I would say that there is a slim-none chance that a multi kill DD would be added in the forseeable future.

The consequences would be the same as with the old DDDs: fun for the player pushing the button, terminally boring for everyone else.

Cyno doomsday was the giggles for the aggressor. And pretty easily tanked for anything larger than a cruiser. And hell as how I understood it for the server-side code if it was a large fleet getting hit.

I thought a DD was a destroyer

CCP Introduces superweapons.

2 weeks later CFC control 30 of them.

30 seconds later 400 threads appear calling for removal of superweapons.

12 years later CCP fixes drones instead.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

great replies, good laughs Smile I expect something more chaotic for superweapons from Jove or Terran, not a rehashed old school doomsday on Titans. Maybe... said superweapon that has system-wide affects and violently affects all on grid where deployed.

I don't think CCP would reintro the old doomsday (as Tippia said it gets rather lame).

Evidently a DoomsDay weapon for the sake and all intent of that definition....Doom. Seems under-exaggerated in EVE Roll, but doesn't have to be an instant-kill weapon. Crush them in a jovian blackhole, slowly you know? Just trying to think of ways to genocide on a humane level.

That's in the novel Empyrean Age. A good read.

Once in the days of yor the DD was an AOE weapon.

But... as expected with the usual MMO neckbeardery, there was a thing called "Drive-by DD" meaning it didn't matter so much what was going on, someone would just show up and DD the grid for the lols.

So, being abused, changes were made and now the DD is more like the ray from the Death Star.

Maybe if the player base was more mature the AOE DD could come back. Would certainly make things interesting.

I just want them to rename current doomsdays, because they are neither great nor very doomi-ish anymore. besides being massively nerfed in damage/application, they cant even hit anythign short of caps anymore, not really something to fear, hell, if people dint have the ability to drop as many titans as they wanted, there would be no use for the doomsday at all.

I mean, when it takes 5+ "doomsdays" to kill ONE capital, its time to start calling them anything but doomsdays

Absolutely, completely, utterly ******* false.
The min-maxers would corner production and use of these unique superweapons and any semblance of balance would cease to exist.

You know, except for doing between two million (scrub) to three million (not scrub) damage at once.

Unless you have a capital.

Drive-by doomsday is still a thing.

This is extremely rare. Unless a capital is specifically fit to tank that doomsday and/or the titan pilot has a low Doomsday Operation skill level it generally only takes one to destroy dreadnoughts and carriers.
