Who is this reply to? It's not me, i'm a PVe player mostly. Unless the new people are Serpentis or Gurista, i'm nto interested.

You're not new anymore, so any changes to the new player experience has no effect on you other than giving you more people to beat.

EVE is one game, not many. No one is against a good new player experience so long as it is within the ethos and spirit of EVE.

I think it was directed at me.

I never said everyone was stupid.

The idea is though.

Now you do not seem to see the benefit of having a resilent playerbase. Mastery has the sole effect that I now know, that after 3 years I still can not fly a shuttle to perfection...I find that encouraging and am willing to pay 4 accounts for several years now , Not included the money I spend on plex for shiny ****....

Eh, I think your question would have been better if you adjusted it towards fishing in stocked ponds vs fishing in rivers/ocean.

Industrial vs sport implies making a living to entertainment

Stocked pond vs river/creek alludes to catch and release or free fish vs predator hunting alien, the thrill of hunting a worthy opponent.

But all you're doing is even further emphasizing that you feel everyone who wants faster training is indeed stupid. Which it's a pretty low baseline you've established that reflects poorly on yourself, if you're the kind who makes blanket generalizations with outcomes that could legitimately go either way with such an arbitrary conclusion.

Actually it's just a way of softening a target up before the attack whether you believe it or not.

It's like when someone says "Brandy, you're a fine girl. What a good wife you would be.....but..."

+1 from someone that was around when that was playing on my transistor radio. Remember those?

FFS, this crap again. Will you stop bitching already. Almost all of the FW and EUni, RvB, ... combat happens in frigs. I joined them like a week after my character was made.

I can assure you that missile still do damage even when using dirty meta4 launchers. And I can assure you a Condor will not fall out of the sky when your frigate skill is only at II. And don't worry, your scrams and damps work quite alright even when not using T2 varients.

In short, stop whining!

CCP is a very successful, clever and virtuous gaming company. But they do make mistakes.

Foremost among their mistakes is the power gap between the brand new player and the seasoned veteran.
There's about 3-4 months where a new player cannot fit a competitive PvP cruiser.
3-4 months, which is nothing compared to the years upon years the vets have had to hone their abilities.
3-4 months, which seems massive to new players.

I'm not usually the type to tell other players that their analysis of "this" or "that" holds about as much air pressure as a screen door on an airlock... but there you are.

-1 for asshattery... but then again, it is "Asshat Friday"... as is every Friday for all that it matters.

It is a lot easier to be a new player now than it was when I started playing.

I would, however, support some initial frigate skills for new players. E.g, complete this mission/tutorial and you will be rewarded with a basically fit merlin and the skills to use it decently. This would allow a new player to be immediately useful to in the tackle role and be useful to a corporation.

It's been said a million times but if you don't enjoy EvE in a frigate, its not the game for you.

New players who are smart and specialize can fly a frigate perfectly pretty quickly.

There is a special implant you can get, as a noob, that gives you +17 to every attribute for the first 7 days, PLUS they get two bonus remaps, to start with. I'd say noobs already have enough opportunities to accelerate the wrong skills and train into stuff they're not ready for (like Cruisers and above).

Besides the old (and 100% true) adage that even a 1 week old character can be effective in small-gang PvP.

*Walks into thread, pulls a seat*

1) there are 2 other GD threads on the same GD topic. Use the F-ing search feature.

2) Who's alt are you? seriously this is rediulously stupid.

3) I;m old, in eve years (10, 33 irl) I HATE repeating myself. But clearly people will not listen, so I might as well...

Copy and Pate from another thread on the EXACT same GD topic.

Obligitory TL;DR.. no that should be "Too damn old in eve, and don't give a crap"

I have been here for 10 bloody years. So I was playing eve before you even knew what a jove was. Back when Jove were CCP and we hoped we could eventually play them. *Glares at ccp*

So a few things, 1) What the hells is with all the whine threads about skill points and waititng lately? I seriously don't under stand it. Are you all alts of the same dude or something?

2) You clearly have ZERO idea how the game works. None, zip, noda. Let me explain, and this will be very simple. I have 120m skill points(yes low for 10 years, no implants, sue me), and a few days ago, I died to someone under a year.. twice.

3) You are looking at the game completely wrong. EvE is not WoW in space, EvE is not what Star Citizen thinks it will be, EvE is not GD checkers. EvE is a game of choices, opportunity, planning, and chess. If you don't have the mind for chess, eve is not for you.

4) I can prolly list off the top of my head about 20 things you can easily do in eve whithen one single day of training. Maybe a week max. They are:

1) mining
2) Refnining
3) mission running
4) belt ratting
5) Ninja Salvage
6) Piracy (yup you can gank pitates in a damn frig)
7) Gate Camping
8) Cyno operator
9) CEO
10) Explorer
11) Worm Hole worker (can easily do a c1 solow in a cruiser/bc, takes maybe 2-4 weeks of training)
12) Scaming
13) Trader
14) Builder
15) Scientist
16) Scout
17) Tackler
18) Bounty Hunter
19) AFK Cloaker
20) Basic logistics and EW

5) I just listed 20 task, you can do, easily, from my ass. If I had tiem to research more I could put down 100 more. The problem is not that eve is a 'wait to play' game, the problem is you. You have no imagination and you are looking at things like huge fleet fights and going 'ooooh that's ALL I want to do' Thus limiting what you can do.

That's it in a nut shell. You are looking at eve completely wrong. Because of that, you will never see the potential for what you can do now. So what if you can't jump into a T2 battle ship with T2/faction gear. This is not WoW, STG, STO, etc. Faction and Tech 2 != win. If you can not fly or know your ship you will die. The linerar training is for this reason. Its the same with Real life, just because you take a month of karate you should not be able to beat a 10th degree black belt. However, if you have someone who has just jumped into being trained and has a black belt he did not earn, you as a white or yellow belt who have taken traning should easily ship his ass.

One more exsample, just because I know how to drive a pinto doenslt mean I can drive for NASCAR.

Stop looking at eve likes its WoW, because its not. If you can not do that, then you will fail in eve and should give me yoru stuff now and return to whatever mmo you came from.

Change your thinking, as the issue is you, not eve.

STOP FAILING AT EVE!

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Eve For life.
