Implants are an interesting component of the game. There are arguments in favor of having them and in favor of getting rid of them. Personally, I lean towards having them, because having all people be universally identical or nearly so when it comes to attributes just seems boring, and lacks appeal. I am not referring merely to learning implants.

Unfortunately, it seems that while CCP Fozzie and Team Let's Make Eve Not Suck have been busy fixing ships so that most of them are competitive and worth using, implants have been overlooked. As evidence that certain implants are imbalanced, I point you to this spreadsheet that was recently submitted to the r/eve subreddit.

As you can see, some implants are valuable, and some are pretty much worthless. Everyone can immediately see the value of an implant that gives you +5% speed. But what about the implants that reduce the chance of side effects of drugs? Well, they're worthless. Firstly because drugs never got improved upon by CCP, and secondly because their effect is far less valuable than the effect of any one of a number of other implants.

Which leaves the game with a problem: a bunch of implants just plain suck. Like many ships prior to CCP's realization that it was easier to rebonus existing ships rather than design and implement new ones, a large number of implants languish in the realm of the unused and unwanted, in a purgatory for the useless and inferior.

CCP Fozzie, you're not my only hope. But you are my best hope for this. Rebalance implant effects. Make them not suck. And perhaps, one day, the Syndicate loyalty point store won't be full of completely useless shit that's more of an insult than a box full of veldspar to a self-professed "pirate."

If the implants were something new, that'd be appropriate. But I'm just asking for a rebalance: something they haven't seen in, well, as long as I've been playing the game. Which at this point is over half a decade.

Not empty quoting.

Because "rebalance" falls under "idea."

I agree. Especially Missionrunners for some smaller factions (like "Intaki Syndicate") which are specialized in these implants have a hard time to get a fair ISK price for their Loyality points. Boosters, their affecting implants and LP-stores in general need a second look. That could also revitalize some regions which are nearly deserted right now.

Came expecting a thread with an OP propositioning a Dev.

Leaving disappointed.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

…and thus it falls within the purview of the F&I forum, where ideas and feature suggestions are being discussed. There's a reason why all the official balancing and major game alteration threads are found there.

Implants are just on thing on a long list of stuff that needs to be rebalanced.

Modules and Rigs both need rebalancing and are much more crucial to the game. After that then yes I agree Implants could do with the tiericide treatment.

Yeah, really! I think the "make EVE better team" should focus on everything all at once! They should especially divert their resources to manage every personal bugaboo annoying every EVE player! That way, the game will achieve perfection instantaneously without delay - like the big bang, only with the softness of a snowy day! Yeah, baby!!

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

That is a modest proposal. I'm reminded of the career advice Gilbert Godfried's agent gave him, "Gilbert, could you just be funnier?"

"The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental."

I know. I thought this was going to be about eating babies for skill points or something.

So sad.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon
