T'was the night before 'lection, and all through the forums,
not a newbie was stirring, not even a.. quorum?

Anyhow, with the election night, I went and put together some of the lovely endorsements that some notable folks have been so kind to grant me.

“James Arget. I supported James strongly last year and he didn’t let me down. He was obviously working hard in any forum I watched, even if not as visibly as Chitsa. To that end, I am hoping that James puts forth a far more public face this year if he gets in again.“

...well, that was my read on James in my Grading CSM 8 retrospective of the CSM 8 term. Here's my endorsement of him for CSM9, posted a few minutes ago. As I mention above, James will top my ballot again this year.

James Arget: James will be top of my ballot, for several reasons. 1) He now has a year of CSM experience under his belt, on top of his formidable knowledge of game mechanics. He has been endorsed by all of his CSM colleagues that have posted so far, a testament to his effectiveness despite being less visible than Chitsa. I remember one particular issue where it was clearly something that the sov null guys were up in arms about, but had no effect on w-space. He seemed buried in it – I asked him why he was so concerned. His quote: “I represent the entire playerbase, not just wormholes.” 2) He is passionate about the game, and especially about wormhole space. 3) He is a tireless worker. 4) I trust James. We have more than three years of time together in fleets. He is not only one of the lead FCs, but the founder of Future Corps and Sleeper Social Club, built on his original vision. That vision included having the good judgment to step down from the CEO role when other demands claimed his time, rather than dragging the corp down.

Thanks very much for the more formal version, just updated the endorsement list. :D

"and deficient corp roles to bring up to the same standard as other mechanics."

What have you done for us in the current CSM regarding this? I recall criticizing the latest minutes' section, "Xhagen threw out a question to the CSM regarding the differences between corporation mechanics and the social aspect of corporations. " ...did you take that opportunity to point out that corporate 'rebalancing' might be in order besides floating trial balloons on new content?

Thank you James for your efforts in the CSM8. I'm happy you and the chitsa had a shot at being in the CSM representing wspace. (Yes - i will horribly adopt Two Steps term for him.)

Having to read thru "two step's arguments" makes this thread the most interessting of the wh-5 threads. Also i believe that you James are totally capable of taking critics seriously and improve in various ways. I do believe, if any, you are the person to take on that challange and get going into an even better CSM9 period.

For what it's worth - I'm sure you can still count on some major voices and i wish you all the best in this years election.

Short answer: Yes. Yes I did.

I started my own corp, prior to that I was a grunt in a multi hundred player corp, and I have close friends other corps. Without a doubt, player corps are one of the "must have" things that has allowed EVE to succeed. I've talked a bit with different devs about what new forms player corps could take, how that impacts new player conversion, long term retention, and overall enjoyment of the game.

The campaign season is a crucible. You can watch candidates refuse to budge, and break what should shape them, and others fail to solidify. Both times around I've gone in with a plan, and come out with it adjusted and refined, better than before and more suitable for the term ahead. This time my greatest shift has been the acknowledgement that yes, I do need to be a more public figure. Should be a fun year ahead.
