One player Convoy

Hi,

After playing EVE for some months and going in missions from one station to another, sometimes it is really boring to take a missioning fleet (let's say, at least, a combat ship and a noctis, for example), from station A to station B.
That's why I was wondering about a convoy option: the player would be able to select the ships in the station. He would pilot the "main" ship, while the others would be remote controlled (they would receive only navigation commands). That way, I would be able to make a convoy of a BS and a Noctis, fly to a distant station, fight some missions there (or whatever I wanted to do there), and then convoy my ships to my home base or another place.

That feature would add a lot of fun to the game too, because it would enable convoys of freighters and other ships, and that would open a huge field even for gankers.

While in a convoy, a ship without pilot could not be boarded by other players and would not be able to use special features, guns, launch drones, etc. It would be able to receive only navigation commands.

Well, that is the feature I had in mind!

Regards,

Fabus

The only thing they need to do is give us a ship that has about 600,000-650,000 ship maint bay that can enter high-sec.

Or buff the Orca's bay.

Besides, I see your idea being abused. Imagine if everyone in a fleet brought along a few shuttles to create lag or make it harder to target the correct ships. Or a few spare combat ships to jump into when the one they are currently piloting blows up.

That awkward moment at the Gentlemen's Club when you see your sister on the stage....and you're not sure where to put the money....

Agree Wolf, that would be nice too.

That could easily be avoided by letting such a convoy only warp to jump gates and stations and allow normal use of ships only after they have been docked. Could also be done by using special remote navigation modules that have to be fitted in every ship except the piloted one which disable all ship functions except engine and make fitting of other modules impossible. So you will have to dock to refit before you can use the other ship(s).

I'm onboard for a larger bay like a carrier on something like a orca or a freight to let you put in assembled ships so not to have to destroy the rigs

My first idea was really to have a kind of carrier able to fly through high sec and capable of carrying assembled ships as you guys stated. Of course that ship would have very limited if any offensive capability.

Orca or a bigger ship would be cool if it had a bigger ship bay.

Regarding the possibility of abusing, I think that would be avoidable in several ways:
1- by limiting the size of the convoy;
2- by making the convoy unable to be part of any fleet;
3- by placing a special tag on convoy leaders, making it easier for others to target the convoy's captain.

The idea of special modules to fit for convoy is also cool.

Something like "Expanded Ship Maintenance Bay" module could do that for an Orca. You fit it when you need it and have some drawback on speed, just like the normal cargohold upgrades for other ships.

Or give freighters able to fit a ship maintained bay that trades cargo hold for ship maintenance hold
Example:Charon cargo hold of 905,000 fit module rig ship bay of 905,000 and no cargo hold
