DED 4/10 analyzing cans question

I started running a 4/10 in Minmatar space (Contested Minmatar Legendary Stronghold). I was working on the second room with the absurd amount of cans. One is supposed to contain a key to open to the next room. My question. Is there an easy way to tell which cans you have opened??

After I would open a can it would stay white and not disappear. After a few minutes of flying around I couldn't figure out which I had opened and which needed opening. I was just using visuals for the area I was doing to know what I had done.

Sorry if this a repeated question. I started playing about a month ago and could not find any previous information on this subject .

Thank you for any information that anyone can give and would is greatly appreciated!!

+1

With large sites with cans which arn't in little groups its a pain in the arse trying to figure out which ones you have already done.

Get in a fleet, add Tags to your overview and tag the cans so you know which ones you did.

Question tho - you need an analyzer to complete the Angel 4/10? oO

Contested Minmatar Legendary Stronghold - That's a Cosmos Complex. Lot's of strange stuff in them.

Yeah, a lot of cans. I just went in and worked the first group of cans, started at one end and went to the other end of that group. Just keep at it, eventually you'll get the key.

I was with a friend of mine trying to complete it(he was in a drake and me in a cane). He mentioned something about tagging. I could not seem to find the ability to do this. Is there anything that he needs to do to allow me to. We are both really new to the game and learning how some things work ^.^

Only the Fleet - Wing - Squad Commander can tag things for fleet, this works well for a fleet shooting at things.
Not that much for tagging cans to keep a record for which one is done. Although, it's possible if one is Fleet commander
and the other one is squad commander.
To be in a Fleet commander position, the skill "Leadership" needs to be trained to lvl 1 . Wing commander also needs the Wing commander skill, not really needed for this thoough.
I'd suggest one use numbers and the other one use letters for their respective tagging.

To get the tags show up in overview, you need to open up the overview settings and go into the column tab and check "Tag" there.
To set up your overview here's an How To:
Overview setup - settings

Further on to the question which cans holds the key to second room. I would say that about 95% of the ones i got, came
from the blue shiny cans ( can't remember their names tho ) at the first structure at warp in.

Also, i never managed to get the spawn mechanism sorted out for them either, despite living in that plex for quite some time.
It's quite random with an evil twist added to it.

You may find my post "Contested Minmatar Legendary Stronghold @ Minmatar." currently on page two of this channel/board interesting. Other than using tags another method is to 'scroll back' using your mousewheel to look at the two groups of cans from further away. You can then 'zigzag' through them. Smile

for tagging:

1. get in fleet
2. open overview settings and tick tags in appearance tab.
3. move them up so they are in top

now u can see a column before the icon column in overview.

your fleet commander can tag anything with either numbers or alphabets and all can see it.

This is a very common issue with can running in exploration sites. As mentioned, the easiest method is to tag the cans as you run them. However you need to be a leader (squad, wing or fleet) so simply create a fleet (of one if solo) or have the fleet boss make you a leader which is normally easiest to do by making a new squad in the wing and placing you in it as the squad leader.

@Mnemosyne Gloob, it's a static COSMOS plex in high-sec which there are four of at this DED level, one for each Empire faction. And no it's not an Angel site, although it has Angels in it.

@Kaanchana, tagging cans should be done by the one that analyze the can, otherwise the micromanagment are going to be ridicilous.

umm i am sure i have no leadership stuff, never trained it i think. you can even make a fleet with yourself to use the tag feature ... just need to be squad commander.

AFAIK, you only need the Leadership skills to distribute ganglinks; you can make a fleet and put yourself in any position to Tag things, you just won't be able to give bonuses

Was away from comp yesterday, so I took the easy route and landed here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Fleet#Fleet_roles.
Couldn't actually test the requirements out on an alt without Leadership trained, so i was going with "better be safe then sorry".

I usualy just target all cans and untarget them as I go through them. Ofcourse depending on the number of targets your ship can handle this might not be a solution for you.

The catch with the site in question, is that you also need to lock on to a never ending respawn of rats. However you can to some
extent control the respawns. The trick is that you first kill the initial spawn and then kill all the respawns as they occur.
When you killed all respawns matching the initial spawn numbers, the respawn rate will be slowed down for some 20-30 minutes,
before it takes up again. KIlling any respawn during this period will not extend the slow down period, it will just make things a bit easier.

You're welcome, before i head off for some SW:Tor beta testing i toss this in, avoid aggro the Maru Hackers that lurks around at the back part, they both scram and web so if they are not dealt with swiftly, you will need a new ship since their rat friends will join in on your ship death.
