i did it a long time ago, and this character was born. but its boring as crap, as far as characters go. about a year later i did it again and ended up with a logistics character mainly doing frigate/cruiser logistics in FW, its the character i played the most over the last year or so. mainly due to the frigate/cruiser rebalance, the new t1 logistics are fun to fly, too bad the mechanics of frigate pvp in FW always end up with clones dead... otherwise i would actually invest training time on it. as it is, its stuck in t1 hulls. considering t2 hulls are kinda crap for their price i guess its not such a bad thing.

It never starts out as a new character. Just another cyno alt to replace the last one whos flying capitals now and the cycle just keeps going...

gives me plenty of oppurtunity to try different playstyles while still having my main to come back to whenever I want.

Didn't we already do this thread over in New Citizens subforum?

Ah hell... I'll do it again.

Plus it's nice not having the baggage of a veteran character with history and hilarious to listen to newbies chatter away over stuff they don't understand (especially when they are facing down your main character).

After entrenching myself in a rigid business industry cycle, I ventured onto fresher lands by starting a new account. The goal was to start totally fresh without any help from my mains. So far so good. Joined up with a riveting newbie corporation and am currently experiencing many and multiple levels of enjoyment. The new player experience is extremely easy after being a five year player. I can see the use for those who are fresh, but otherwise it's just a click 'next' spam fest.

Coordinating missions to give new players balanced skills and modules for their ships would be a good idea. I found myself getting multiples of the same skill or module and selling it. Would be neat if they planned on people doing all the tutorials and gave greater benefits for completing that.

I sold a 5 year old character for about 5 years GTC worth of ISK.
Made a new guy who inherited the assets, bookmarks, cash etc and spent some of the ISK for years of game time.
Can buy whatever I can fly (to the limit of my learned skills) at will and afford to lose it 100s of times over.
Can do whatever I want (to the limit of my learned skills) without worrying about where my next ship or PLEX is coming from.
Great fun!

Yep, I have made a couple of new characters, took them both through the tutorials, had a blast. One is now my FW alt, flying meta fit frigs, still having a blast although the other one became a cyno alt.

My 'main' is almost a perfectly skilled Amarr sub cap pilot, just Marauder V and Black Ops to finish off plus flies a perfectly skilled Nightmare. I have only logged into her to update skills for the last 4-5 months, I have more fun flying my FW alt, who is still lacking core skills, or my exploration character, sat at roughly 30m SP, 10-15m of which was wasted on resource processing, mining and industrial skills that I never use.

Also, thought I should mention, my FW alt is no longer being skilled.

We did man! I was there. Copy & paste:

I will give you this: Every two years or so, I "start over" by running the tutorials with a character. All of them. In all 4 empires. Then I do the SOE arc. Upgrading from rookieship to t1 frig to destroyer feels like an accomplishment. Makes no sense at all ofcourse. Sue me.

No way ill be starting over tho. I've just reached the point I no longer have to ask myself: "Can I fly that?" . With flying I mean more than just undocking and less than being dangerous in it (still working on that).

As a matter of fact, I became frustrated the other day because my cynoalts cant fly interceptors.

I also dont understand how I could start over in the first place. If I make a new character and join brave newbies for example. I will still have my current knowledge. You'd think someone would notice this new n00b (me) learning things really really fast. Too fast with too little questions actually.

Besides, I'm still learning now. Every day. At the moment my new learning requires characters with more than the basic skillpoints.

Al things being said and done: If you think you will enjoy completely starting over skillpointswise; go for it.

I did. This here was a new character. He just passed his 1y birthday on the 4th of April. He is at 19.3m SP now. Probably could have done more if I had bought +5 implants but alas.

The whole rerolling thing just kind of makes you stop taking skills for granted. On my main I've had AWU, Drone Interfacing, High Speed Maneuvering, ... for ages and never really thought much of it. It's just one of those skills you have and you consider the most normal thing in the world. Like who doesn't have Drone Interfacing 5?? :P

Retraining those longer 'core' skills suddenly made me respect them a lot more, if that makes any sense. I stopped taking them for granted. :P

I did enjoy starting over and joining RvB in the process was a good idea. I enjoy PvP more than PvE and the ships and fights you end up in with RvB are very much accessible to new players. It also showed me that there really is no skill requirement for having fun in EVE. It's very much possible from the first day you log in. People who say they can't do XXX because of their lack of SP just aren't looking or trying hard enough.

I did do the new tutorials as well, as well as the Blood Stained Stars mission line. I might do some of the Empire faction story lines later, when I get enough standing to access them. :)

Never have used a trial account, but we have 2 characters (unused alts) on various accounts which date back to the first week of the games launch and have never been in anything but the starter corp that we just started skilling for kicks and giggles.

Why do you have to do this? (out of interest) and I imagine when (if) you leave CCP you have to leave that character behind as well? Seems a shame.

I believe it has to do with the T20 scandal, though I'm not sure.

Back when I skilled up Carriers I got my first Archon, a great milestone for any capsuleer. Anyways, after messing around for a bit, it became readily apparent you need at least one cyno alt on another account to be truly effective. So I started a new account for this purpose.

For fun, I used one of the slots to start a miner/builder/inventor from scratch. It has actually been fun to learn a completely different part of the game and play in hisec. The new toon is up to 30mil SP and with his T2 prodcution actually keeps my main going in PvP.

HOWEVER, it is not the same as a new character that is scratching out a life in EVE. If my indy alt needs isk for a new ship or materials or POS mods or whatever, it takes 2 seconds to just move isk from the main. No more budgeting and planning when it comes to advancing.

Whenever I get bored and feel the need to infiltrate.. I roll another account and start all over again.

You need that super pure history/API to be effective.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

My observation over the years is the sort of new players that whine about how a low SP character is not fun are still whining several years later and ironically will even start claiming how "EVE is dieing" and talk about how "its not as good as back when they were a new player" :D
