I would love to get a response from the devs. Is this still the roadmap for nullsec?

They will balance the ships first. Apparently balancing ships is more important than what you can achieve with them.

Logistics should be a weakness for larger organizations of players. It should avoid being tedious, but it should remain a major point of concern as size increases, and be one of the primary drawbacks of growing beyond a certain size.

- this idea was probably the first idea to fall off the table I guess.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Because it's completely impractical and logistics is, by its nature, efficiently scaleable. Even if you implemented some completely stupid arbitrary ingame rules to prevent that the end result would be creating hundreds of tiny little corps or organizations to accommodate logistics.

You could still make it more risky.....

I remember the good old days. No JF's or capitals what so ever. You had to haul your **** in a tech I hauler. Try to imagine that. I'm not saying that's a good way to do it, but its sure is better then it is today. And it required you to bring escort and work for it...... Risk vs Reward.

Looking at the chart makes me think its part of a CCP troll. See the list for mining. Lucrative is listed.

Yep, EVE was a much more interesting place when you had to defend your assets while moving them... or had the opportunity to interdict someone else's.

Avoiding tedious activities is important though.

I'd almost like to see a new mechanic. I'd like to be able to hire an NPC corp like Interbus to haul large amounts of materials without needing to task an actual player with flying the hauler/freighter... freeing up players to actually fly combat ships to escort them.

It could still be tedious if there is no attack, but at least the potential is there for violence. The mechanics of it would have to be carefully thought out though, and possibly new types of haulers created specifically for this purpose.

For low value, high volume hauling I could see people simply using this mechanic to fly their goods unescorted... which is fine. I've always wanted to see the space ways flowing with not just player ships, but also filled with a bustling stream of NPC ships as well. NPC ships that actually are fulfilling a purpose in game, not just hanging around.

Of course, I'd also like to see the current NPC convoys traveling to different systems, using gates, carrying a larger variety of good and having a more formidable escort... but most importantly actually having an impact on the market prices for those goods when they get to their destination.

Yea, it brings a bittervet tear to my eye. Nullsec used to be full of miners even though the population in Eve was much lower. Today nullsec is just full of nullified T3's.

I think even CCP forgot about that vision outlined in the blog, Case in point "ESS". Seriously though when's the last time CCP had a real disscussion with the community on sov mechanics?

Spent many an hour in an obelisk being escorted through 0.0

Was the most nerve wracking and yet fleet appreciative part of the game

What you consider a "tedious activity" another considers "team building and important activity".

Being able to jump from high sec to a station in low = big blow to team work.

Now days it's a given that some scrub does it all solo and unencumbered.

That one guy needs to be punished, but clearly he's into that sort of thing.

Would love to see groups of 10 doing missions and making 1.1 LP each

Have the newish incursion bell curve on null mission payouts.

I think the coming changes to refining are a good first step in making 0.0 mining more of a thing than it is currently. So in that regard, yes they are on the right track. Though much more needs to happen to make null sec empires more reliant on their local resources instead of leeching someone else's empire (NPC empire space) to maintain their own. That's something I would eventually like to see happen.

What he said. They are making changes to refining, and prolly mining as well, this will give a boost to null sec industry. Also adding the compresstion array will help too.

The siphon and mobile hanger units helped null as well, games new ways to get money and be able to roam on yoru own.

Mobile cyno jammer should of helped as well. So slowly they are making changes. I think by the time the new space open up, we will have a complete null sec revamp, over a long period of time. Probably by that time, we will have new sov mechanics too, but implemented over a few expansions and not just one big lump.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

I agree. It's a good step. I would just like to get a confirmation that this roadmap is still the one they are following.

Adding some mobile units is in my opinion some very small steps. But i agree, it's a good change. But much more is needed and keep in mind that the dev blog is from 2011. If they are keeping that speed we might have new sov mechanics by 2020.

Fozzie and Bettik asked what would happen if all mineral compression was eliminated
tomorrow, along with titan bridging freighters, forcing 0.0 groups to mine and build in their own
space. The initial response was that sov alliances would simply relocate to high-sec entrance
points and import their requirements, or simply move to low-sec staging points.

From january minutes regarding nullsec. I'm confused here. Nullsec not so promise land?

No, they want to force PVP Alliances to bring in lots of Industrial types and operate independently, rather than depending on Highsec. They have been pushing this for years, with mixed results.

I guess "loot bukakke" in data sites is that CCP call "dynamic and challenging" exploration.

Still data/relic sites seems to be close to "exploration" goals (nomadic/lucrative/non-just combat/etc).
