Give out rookie ships per station owner faction

An (assumingly) simple change with great effect to players interested in lore, immersion and game background story: I think a player should get that type of rookie ship which fits to the station owning faction. It just doesn't make sense that I get an Ibis on Gallente stations and so on. If I want a Caldari rookie ship I need to go into Caldari territory (or just dock on a Caldari station elsewhere).

Bonus: pirate faction rookie ships could be given out in NPC pirate null sec.

For all who don't care: no harm is done to anyone since all rookie ships require just Spaceship Command 1. So everyone can fly all rookie ships.

Except for the Pirate Faction ones (which are, IIRC special time gifts, e.g. Christmas / EVE B-day), this doesn't sound too bad of an idea.

Yeah - I know CCP's given away the "special" ships again, but they really shouldn't do that.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

That point with pirate rookie ships was just an additional thought. It's only logical in my opinion. And as far as I know, the pirate rookie ships are special but not really comparable with (expensive and powerful) pirate faction frigs, cruisers and BSs. So why not?

Good point. Well, in non-NPC null you have faction specific outposts for instance. On POSes you don't get rookie ships anyhow ^^

The Echo is the name of the Angel cartel's rookie ship, and damn if it isn't one of the sexiest ships in the game. Although i appreciate the new ibis model greatly, I would love to fly one of those around in space without a 300+ mil-sized target on my butt.

Has been asked for before and would be a simple change. You can see the argument against given they are now (vaguely) viable ships but honestly temporarily confusing a few newbies would be worth the change imo.

Yes to the pirate factions too, just cause they were special ships doesn't mean they have to remain so. Having such potentially fun ships are hangar trophies is terrible and seeing new Mordus, Intaki, Ammatar, etc. themed ships would be entirely unterrible.

Yep, this is true.

All I mean is that CCP should ideally keep the presents and special-edition things as such. If they wanna do this, then at least think of a way to keep the presents / hangar trophies separate from the "trash" rookie ships.

Pilots in 0.0 don't need free rookie ships.

So, you're a bounty hunter. No, that ain't it at all. Then what are you? I'm a bounty hunter.

I had a great time once in null with some corpmates using nothing but noobships and noob weapons. But that stupid minmatar one was so much better than the rest.

There is fun to be had in null in a rookie ship.

Also, I don't think this thread is about "need"... so, keep it in your pants, Tough Guy.

Its would be cool to be able to get any rookie ship for free and not just your own. +1

I agree they can be fun, I'm just saying, I don't need any more freebies. As many times as I've nipped out in my pod to a station and suddenly I have a brand new Reaper in my assets list... I must have a couple of hundred of the darn things. If the system were put into place that the NPC stations would give out race appropriate rookie ships, they wouldn't be missed (by me at the very least) in 0.0.

But on further thoughts, isn't it the insurance company that passes them out, and not the stations themselves?

Easy. Reskin them and tack on a different name, nerf the new free one to match the others in power.
