What Serene Repose said, which got SNIPPED (for commenting on how the forum is moderated) was...this is a major double-standard. If the ISDs don't LIKE the post, they lock it (or snip it). This thread is butt-kissingly complimentary, but STILL COMMENTS ON HOW THE FORUM IS MODERATED, and of course it's NOT LOCKED.

EDIT: Far be it from anyone to comment on this egotistically driven double-standard.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

What bad things can come from a thread giving volunteer staff some positive feedback and appreciation for the hard work they put in?

Now think of what kind of bad things can evolve from the polar opposite - personal attacks, trolling, discussion specific moderation cases, the list goes on ...

I'd say this thread remains open for pretty much the same reason a crap ton of "technically" rule-breaking posts remain all across the forum and don't get deleted. Even Ezwal says often "Edgy cases remain". These guys obviously do try hard to give people as much room to move within the rules as they reasonably can. If all this bullshit over the whole Ero1 thing didn't make you see just how much leeway is being given to discuss things that really shouldn't be then nothing will. But hell, let's not give these guys any leeway in return, huh?

I have removed a rule breaking post.

The Rules:
10. Discussion of warnings and bans is prohibited.

Such matters shall remain private between CCP and the involved user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through email or private messaging. CCP respect the right of our players to privacy and as such you are not permitted to publicize private correspondence (including petition responses and emails) received from any of the aforementioned parties.

What about discussions of how the ISD manages the forum...isn't there some rule about that, too?

I will always remember my first (well deserved) warning ... when both evidence and humour is used against you in the same petition ... there is little choice other than to say "fair cop ISD ... I'll try and behave" ....

Damn you ISD and measured responses :)
