Also, it would be moderately amusing if there was a 20% chance the insurance payment gets denied for spurious reasons - "you filled in the wrong date of birth, that was your last clone", "an eye-witness report states you were warping over the speed limit for that system", "your ship is equipped with an unacceptable modification, the small print expressly states the fitting of a 'Damage Control 2' voids your policy".

As an aside, I'm tempted to see what premiums Direct Line offers if I tried taking out a policy on a Chieftain Tank...

"You didnt hold a valid permit"

That would be the most common reason for denial of a payout, surely? It's just like a driving licence for highsec.

Wait a minute... There's insurance?

Yeah. It's some scam CCP pulls on newbs and poor people. Best to just steer clear of the whole sordid mess.

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them.

The Rules:
5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

If your insurance premiums in EVE went up with every loss, like in real life.

How screwed would you be?

Confirming EVE Central Bank is bankrupt.

Also, used to be that you would make ISK by buying a ship, insuring it and setting it to self-destruct.. you would only make about 50k isk by doing this but just goes to show how effective insurance was back then!

As an aside, I'm tempted to see what premiums Direct Line offers if I tried taking out a policy on a Chieftain Tank...

This made me lol :)

Give Direct Line a call and ask them if they can beat the quote you have on your Drake.

Tanks Tracked military vehicles aren't actually that bad to insure, my brother owns an FV432 that he uses for charity events, costs him about £300 fully comp through a specialist broker like Adrian Flux or Footman James.

Running the damn thing is another matter, 6 MPG if you're lucky.

Edit ~ keeping Ramona happy P

Technically it's an APC P pretty fun to drive too.

An APC is a track. As are IFVs and ARVs.

One weekend roam and I would crash the Insurance market. That's why it won't work. Too many targets would lose too many hulls to me.

While i don't have any concrete ideas about how to do someting like this, I've always felt that if EVE has insurance, it should maybe be a player run thing (with automation support of some kind) rather than 'lose ship, get isk' like it is now.

I understand what you're saying though. I do enjoy flying T2 and T3 ships as well, and so I'm aware you can't get decent insurance from them.

Surely with a SRP, running an insurance scam is a way to turn a personal profit, no?

I'm not sure where the scam is then in an SRP scheme where losing my ship in an alliance strategic op means I get a good portion (usually all) of my fitted ship's cost straight back into my wallet.
If you choose to spend the ISK on a replacement ship, that ISK goes into the wallets of players who import those ships from other areas, either from highsec markets or manufacturing sites elsewhere.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)
