This is my story

I have played eve on and off usually for a few months at a time then i find myself getting burnt out and frustrated and then just moving on to another game. But eve is such a great game it keeps dragging me back in and i fall into the same cycle again.

So if any one has any advice on what i should do please let me know.

I play mostly solo due to small time frames of play around 1-2 hours at a time and this can be at random times due to work, wife, child real life tom foolery.

I could join a corp but most of them want you active and in fleets and i cannot commit to that.

So this time round i decided to join Fw heard there was good fights, good isk and fun to be had.
After watching a few video's on Fw i had a basic understanding so i dived in

I logged in and had a harpy in my hanger fitted it and decided to go run some plexes (to make isk's and hopefully get pvp while doing this) with in about 5 mins 3 enemy ships come into the plex, i could have escapped was 30km away and aligned but i play with a yolo aproach i was hungry for a fight so i charged right in battle cry at the ready first i went for a maller despatched him with ease and my buffer was holding strong next went for a frig cant rember what he was flying he melted under my blasters. last ship was a kitting ship, I had a MWD fitted but since i had not played in ages i though i was scrambled and couldnt use it so i sat there hoplessly while he chipped away at my buffer but i thought to hell with it 3v1 and i took 2 of them out this was a good day.

This boosted my spirits and i thought gonna stick at eve this time but 2 months later (or many hawks, harpy, destroyers later) and no real good like my first experience just a constant blob i am considering quitting again.

I then pulled myself together and though id try out wormhole hunting as they cant see my comming in my stealth bomber i could find so prey to kill. with no commitment for last weekend (wife and kid away) i scanned down some hole and took my trusty manticore for a spin. 40 hours later and many many holes not one kill to show for it so that increased my frustration.

even tried talking my friends into the game but its to daunting for them and the Sp gap is huge

and before the usual reply's you cannot have my stuff, cloaked stabbed plexing is not for me

so any tips or advice would be greatly recieved as i dont want to give up on eve

There are loads of corps that don't worry about you being active and in fleets all the time. Might I suggest RvB or BNI. Alternatively what about looking into the open fleet community? Spectre fleet looks like a lot of fun.

Another thing that is good for avoiding burn out is variety. Have you considered skilling a second character for some other purpose. Try something you wouldn't normally do like Suicide ganking, awoxing or scamming.

I know you said you don't want to cloaky plex and I assume that s a comment about factin warfare but In my experience FW is a great pace to get solo frigate fights. They're fast, exciting and the losses are cheap so you can keep doing it without having to grind loads of isk. Station trading for your isk is also really easy as you will generally be only a few jumps out from a trade hub.

Anyway, hope you can keep the burnout at bay.

First of all join a corp. No FW corps expect you to be on all the time and everyfleet. Most FW is casual players who just want to PVP.
Gets 1000 times better.

As for the burning out.... Do something else when you feel frustrated. At the moment I have been to the point of punching a hole through my monitor because of stabs in FW. Last night I logged on with only 40 mins to play wanted to get some fights. 6 plexes in a row I warped in to find an AFK farmer who eventually warped out with stabs.

Stabs are ruining the game for me at the moment all I can think about is quitting. Soooo I been playing something else and catching up on TV shows.

Once I get that out of my system ill log back into Eve after a few days and it will be fine.
