All day since the patch, I have been unable to scan anything. Everytime I set the probe range to 2.0 AU or less all signals are lost. This has never been a problem before and the only thing of significance to have changed since last being able to successfully scan (yesterday) has been me gaining covert ops rank 4 and the crucible patch. I somehow doubt that me increasing my scan strength would be the source of this bug, but I can never be sure.

I am using a buzzard with a sisters expanded probe launcher.

I am using sisters core scanning probes -
base sensor strength 107.8
base maximum scan deviation of 0.08225 AU

Scanning is an integral part of the game for me. I would like to know what has kicked the bucket on me and hopefully help to have this resolved quickly. Thanks

I was having a similar issue, but I believe I have found the solution. The problem comes from the fact that, at least in my case, the Unknown/Mag/Radar/etc site type filters are, by default, unchecked. So, once you get down to that low of a probe radius, you discover the type of the site and it is filtered out. You'll need to edit your scan results filter and check the types of sites you want to see (personally I'd rather have unwanted types remain in the list rather than disappear, to prevent things like this).

You sir are absolutely correct. Because I had been using custom filters before crucible it never did add the new categories to the filter and I guess I had been filtering everything out once I had a nice scan on it. Thank you. I think this issue is resolved.

Though I do wish that that they would make a post on the front page about this.

Yeah, kind of silly that's there's no mention about this anywhere official.

I just spent half an hour trying to resolve a sig that just wouldn't, wondering if the requirements for low strenght signals had increased a lot or if scanning was broken altogether.

It is, but i'm lazy to find where it has been announced :)

It was announced in Patch notes Twisted:

Cosmic signatures may now be filtered according to type. This allows players doing exploration to easily sort Ladar, Gravimetric, Magnetometric, Radar and Unknown cosmic signatures in their system scanner results. Signatures which are still too weak to register their type will not be excluded from this filter regardless of their actual type.

Granted, the notes are rather massive and it's but one point of the many Big smile In hindsight, it could probably have used a bit on those new categories not being active in already existing filters and needing to be set manually.

This explains a lot for me.

+1 for the sig filter.
-1 for not completely reading the patch notes.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Oh, I read the full patch notes whilst downloading the client. What I thought was lacking was a comment on them being unselected by default, hence all the temporarily confused people asking about their sigs disappearing under 2-4AU.

Now we just need tactical overlay to work on solar system map and all the people will sing Kumbaya around the bonfire.
