PICalc: Planetary Interaction Production Calculator

PICalc is a small tool to help with calculating component production for Planetary Interaction.

You simply choose the POS structure or component you wish to make and enter the quantity, it will then show you the following.

  • Total materials required
  • Stage by stage components
  • Time to manufacture
  • Total and component costs
  • Plus much more...

It is a simple and hopefully easy to use tool with a single purpose, which should be very useful for anyone doing or planning PI production of any scale.

A screenshot is available here.

You can download it, or get more information, from the site below.

There is a short demo video on youtube, for anyone that is curious but cant spare the time to download it ;)

This shows version 1 but it gives a good idea of what the program offers.

Any questions, bugs, comments or suggestions please post here and i will try to get back to you.

Version 2 has recently been released after a significant amount of improvements.
Some of the highlights of the new version include:

  • Major user interface improvements.
  • Show planets on materials list.
  • Built in help and improved tooltips.
  • Time calculation with processed or raw materials.
  • Allow user to change prices region.
  • Cache prices to improve performance.
  • Show other required materials and skills.
  • Simple setup program for easy installation.

See the main site here for details.

I will be posting an updated video using the new version shortly.

Well, looks promising. I am trying at this moment and as far as I can see, it needs some new abilities like;

  • Needs "Collapse" ability like "Expand"

  • Needs to list other products like P3's or P2's. When I don't want to go for P4's, I would be able to select my top tier as P3's for example.

  • Material List exporting to CSV is not working as intended. Misplacing the columns.

It looks good since there are not many PI calculators around. Needs some polishing and user friendly abilities.

Keep it up.

Sad sorry i always forget about people who use , for decimals.
Ive fixed the export and added a collapse button, just need to test it a bit then ill do a new release.

Im thinking about how best to add the other levels of PI products, trying to make it really flexible so it works for anyone. If not ill just add them to the current list for the next version.

Thanks for the bug report and suggestions.

- I'd like to view the import/export TAX
- I'd like to set my own TAX also
- I'd like to add 7 different items to my favorites list and then the ability to see them under the Favorite tab in a compact form.

Nice app. Keep it up.

Here's the new release.

It's got the fixes and features you wanted plus an advanced mode feature which should help a lot of people.

In normal mode you select 1 item from the drop-down list and click calculate. In advanced mode you select an item, add it to the list, then add as many more items as you want. It then calculates the total materials, time, cost etc. for the whole list.

Nice app. Keep it up.

Tax is an interesting idea, i never considered that. I will see if i can add that for the next version.

Im not exactly sure what you mean with the favourites but im sure i could do something to remember previous selections.
Is the new advanced mode helpful for you?

Keep the feedback coming and enjoy the latest version.

Ill be adding Tax calculations as suggested by Invictra Atreides, as well as tweaking a few things for myself. If anyone has any suggestions now is your chance to tell me what you need and ill see what i can do.
Also im not playing eve as much as i used to so if ive missed anything in the recent changes that effects PI let me know.

Sorry for the delay replying. My EVE account wasn't active so it wouldn't even let me post on here.

Unfortunately it doesn't work on Mac (or Linux). The Microsoft libraries I use to make the user interface look and work the way it does are only compatible with Windows. (.NET4/WPF if you're interested)

However it works well in a virtual machine. I believe a lot of Mac users use VMware Fusion, although im sure free alternatives exist.

Good tool, a bit bloated with unneeded data of full EveAI library, but good.
Any reason to not add outposts and outposts upgrades to production selection list?

Thank you so much for this tool. I am dyslexic and have massive difficulty with numbers (must be a masochist or whatever and like to play eve for the pain)

This tool was extremely valuable to me. If I could ask one suggestion if there is a calculator or something that could be built in that could do something like .. if xyz is being extracted @ this amount then how long till silo is full and can my processes taking 3000 each or what ever keep up so there is no down time..

eg, 100,000 units in = x'm3

6x processes @3000 each = 18,000 so they eat 18k every 30min how much am i getting in raw mat per 30min

im sorry if im not explaining well i can see the concept but i just cant put it on paper :|

Please help !

Keep up the good work.

Ok, Question, In the "Cost of Materials" area, is the first number the absolute cost including taxes? or only Market Prices with taxes shown?
I.E.
If have a "Cost of Materials" of 500,000,000 (98,000,000);
Is it 500mil , with 98mil of that being Taxes??
Or 500mil + 98mil in Taxes?

While I'm here, might i make some suggestions as someone who makes good use of this Tool? While I really love this tool, two things that have always bugged me about it, and functions I'd like to see are;

1) Higher P-level Calculations; I have my production Chains split between Characters, mostly as a P2-P4 Chain. While i can see the calculations from P1-P4, this throws my numbers off, so seeing the calculations from a P2 or even P3 Starting point would be nice.

2): Factory Calculator: It would be nice to see something that could tell me how many of a Type of factory I need to support a number of Higher level factories fully. While this is not that much trouble with smaller productions, when you start to get into longer, larger chains, it can become very easy to mix up your numbers.

If these functions are already in the Tool and I've just not found um, Then just ignore this post.

Its been a year since my last update and it looks like there's a few things need adding. Also a big thank you to the 3200+ people who downloaded this version.

Im hoping to add outposts and related components, these should really have been there before but i couldnt find the right items in the static data. Ill also take a look at some of the suggestions here and see if anything else needs updating for Rubicon.

Nehemyah Spires: Cost of materials includes the tax. Ill do something to make this more obvious as it doesnt make sense right now.

Thanks again for using PICalc and thanks for the feedback.

Hi, this is one of the better PI tools out there! Quite easy to use, yet providing a lot of info. Feature request: add taxes only on certain items, for instance: on some planets I produce T1, on some T2s. They all come together on the mighty factory planet, but have different taxes 'attached' to them. It would be great if I could turn on or off taxation for certain (early) steps in the production chain.

thanks for a great tool Big smile hope to see update soon
