HAHAHAHA.

Let's check:

New Citizen Q&A:

Does the OP have a question, nope.

Does the OP come with a suggestion to be added to the game, yes

That belongs in Features and Ideas, not in NCQA

So, stop posting Solstice, and only start posting when you know what to post, where to post it and your ideas start to make sense.

Wow, I think you should take a few steps back from your computer and calm down again. There is no need to be so aggressive about it, you know? Maybe you should remember that you don't actually own this place and that there's no need to play forum police and tell others what to do.

wow, such hate.

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

Again, I'm not mad.

It's just funny that you say to people to take it somewhere else as it would derail it, yet you yourself as a clear veteran can't even post it in the correct place.

How many third party tools are there for EVE? Now who decides what gets loaded to the MotD? What about useful webpages? Eve Uni? zkill? evemon? eve-central?

The question isn't "is this a good idea" because of course it is a good idea to give new players more tools to help them figure what the what. The question is (and this seems to be CCP's problem of late) where and what should the line be?

[quote=Solecist Project]Both do what EFT does as good as EFT does (and in my opinion even better).

That's not true actually. EFT's damage graph is very much superior to any of the other programs, allowing to gain a much better insight in how stuff really works.

Too bad that on paper stuff is very different from actual in game events.

Feel free to point out specific issues.

I believe Gregor Parud was responding to J'Poll's statement - 'Too bad that on paper stuff is very different from actual in game events.'

Anyway, the OP is a good idea, could even have the MOTD start off with a small phrase that's different for each of the four main Empire Factions, like for example with Minmatar have it say 'In Rust We Trust'.

Blink

Then have it followed with a link to an Evelopedia page, (I believe there's a page already created) that has links to all of the different 3rd party apps available..

Then new players can choose which 3rd party application they want to use and CCP wouldn't look like they were showing any favoritism..

By the way, in RUN chat I always suggest to new players to download and use EFT, EveMon and Eve Central, along with various guides.

At least DMC sees it properly

Your idea isn't flawed, but they can't just link A program, they can link All programs (or a link to a site that lists them all).

It's called staying objective in a matter.

Fun part is that it takes you 2 pages of others saying the EXACT same thing to finally realize that.

A link to this forum might be a good idea. A link to specific third party programs would not.

Either way, this thread should have been in the proper forum.

I understand the reasons for posting this thread here, especially since it deals with new players and the starter corps.

Besides, most threads posted in 'Features and Ideas' sub forum won't even be seen by CCP. Just like the proposal threads posted in the Assembly Hall are rarely ever seen by the CSM.

Evil

However, if you post it in GD or NC sub-forums, it will get noticed rather quickly. Unfortunately GD sub-forum has a really fast turnover rate. Most threads in GD get locked or moved very quickly due to CCL / ISD members and the threads that don't will get buried very quickly from the onslaught of new threads constantly being created.

New players & EFT

Cos new players know all about modules, skills, the fitting window, DPS, EHP....
Its probably best to make them finish a tutorial first. As in playing EVE a bit before we turn them into EFT warriors.

Yeah you are. You could have at least tried to think before you posted.

I dont think this idea would be all that great in practice.
CCP would be opening a whole new door, suggesting newbies to download 3rd party programs that are made by someone "random" whos not under the influence of CCP.
I can see both upsides but also some pretty big downsides, when it comes to the business that is CCP, when it comes to this.

I wouldnt bet money on this ever happening.

That's not really an issue. EFT is the only one that's perfect for quickfit and easy jumping into it.

There can also always be mentioning of the other ones, but EFT makes most sense as it has the least potential to overwhelm people.

Wowzers, biased much?

There are numerous programs and even websites that are just as easy to use and work on a multitude of platforms, CCP can do an article on them all at some point in their Community Spotlight but just outright preferring one above the other is not how you help the community out.
