Cloaked traveling

What class of ships is able to travel through systems completely cloaked? In other words, cloaked at the gate in one system and still cloaked after jumping through to the other system?
Thanks

You'll want a Covert Ops Frigate or Stealth Bomber for that. They can warp cloaked as well. Other than that, there are certain Recon Ships, Black Ops Battleships and possibly Cloaked Transports for hauling.

Be careful -- if I remember correctly, getting too close to another ship wil cause your cloak to drop.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

Then answer, you your question as written, is 'none'.

You can't jump when cloaked. and you can't activate your cloak while under gate cloak.

Other than that, Cov ops ships with a cov ops cloak. Or a blockade runner.

1: undock. you're not cloaked. if you're within 2000m of anything, you can't cloak. but you're invulnerable for 30 seconds. use an undock bookmark to warp away safely. cloak when you can.
2: warp to a gate. preferably not to 0, as that can undock you.
3: get within 2500m. uncloak and jump. or get to 2000 and uncloak automatically. then jump. Sometimes the jump button (when you're outside of normal range) doesn't get you close enough to auto uncloak, and you have to do it yourself)
4: do /something/ to lose your gate cloak. activate your cloak.

So there are small times when you might be targeted by someone quick enough.

Thank you Jenn and everyone. Hmm, I'm failing to see much benefit to cloaking, as far as long distance travel or hauling goes. (It does sound good for sitting in a system probing, scanning for PVP, etc.) If you jump and run into a gate camp on the other side, you're in the same situation you'd be in in a non-cloak ship. They can see you and target you, so you can only hope you can activate warp before you get warp scrambled. Or am I missing something?

actually, it's 'hope you can activate your cloak before you're scrambled'

along the lines of:
1: hit the warp button.
2: then immediately hit the cloak button, as your gate cloak is now off.

And pray they're not able to get within 2km of where you are (to decloak you) There's a very small window of being able to be targeted. but it's smaller than the the align and warp window.

the only time where this won't work is in nullsec because the gatecampers can put up a bubble. In that case, align + mwd + cloak and pray they can't get close to you before you get out of the bubble works pretty well...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Ah. Excellent, thanks. One last question: What would be a blockade runner ship? Any examples appreciated.

Black Ops BS do not warp cloaked.

Ships that can fit a covert ops cloak that allows them to warp while cloaked:
Covert Ops
Stealth Bombers
Covert Recons (Combat Recons cannot).
T3 Cruisers wtih the Covert Reconfiguration Subsystem
and
Blockade Runner Transport ships. (Deep Space Transport ships cannot).

Note: You can align and then cloak faster than anyone can target you (unless you get a lag spike). So these ships are very hard to catch.

Yes OP - you are missing something :)

Covop frigates, including stealth bombers are increadibly fun ships to fly thanks to their abiltity to warp and burn at full speed while cloaked (using a Covop Cloaking device). The only thing they can't do is activate an AB or MWD while cloaked, but you can get one cycle out of those propulsion modules when you first cloak. Note very few people fit an AB to a Covops ship.

Getting through gate camps is extremely easy in those ships, even bubbled camps in null. It is not impossible to be caught but very rare. When you first jump into a system you appear 12 Km away from the gate. Unless the gate camp is huge, most of them will be orbiting the gate at under 2.5 Kms. Even if huge, you have a full 30 seconds before the gate cloak drops and you can't be uncloaked by external means in that time.

Take your time, sort overview by distance, pick out something to warp to (away from the gate) and then break cloak. Break cloak by aligning to that object when all enemy are at the best possible distance from you. Your ship should only appear for half second in space, hit your cloak and it disappears again, up to about a second after hitting cloak you can hit your MWD and it will fire up for one cycle. (I usually have my cloak and MWD on the F4 and F5 key, I select the warp to object in the overview, mouse click the align to button, finger click F4, F5 and then mouse click warp to.)

The thing about a covops ship (or rather a covops cloak) is that you don't need to break cloak again to go to warp, also you align at full speed. Other cloaks gimp your speed, then you have to drop them and rev up to three quarter speed before going to warp, that is when you get caught. In a Covops ship, they have to physically get within 2000M just to decloak you before they have a chance to start locking you. You should be in warp within 4 seconds after dropping the gate cloak. With 3.5 of those seconds under your covops cloak.

Inside a bubble? No problem, you are moving at full speed and get one cycle of the MWD, in a Covops Frigate you can burn 20 Kms before the MWD shuts down and then still keep burning away at 350-400 m/s. You will have to be really unlucky to be decloaked. Obviously burn most directly away from the gate and the enemy. Few will even be able to spot and align to you in the brief time you appear from under the gate cloak. Even if they reach the spot you had been in, you will be several kilometres away by then.

When you do warp away nobody sees where you go. No calls of "He's gone to the Sun or Planet 5".

When approaching a gate occupied by an enemy fleet. They can't see you coming when using their onboard scanner. You can land at zero, taking them completely by surprise and just jump through. In null it is possible to land in their bubble and they still won't know you are there, just turn around and quietly burn out, or even burn the rest of the way to the gate and jump through. Ideally though, if you know a sizeable enemy is in system, you would warp to a perch safe spot to view the gate first, but if you haven't got one of them warp to a celestral then warp to the gate at 30. It is definitely the way to travel when solo in low or null.

I've never flown, Covert Recons or T3's but can imagine they are equally fun. Blockade Runners haven't quite got the slow boat speed, so I wouldn't deliberately run a known null sec gate camps in them, but you have a better that 50% chance of getting through one.
