I'm sure somewhere this might have been discussed in the past. I've not searched as I haven't had the time to do so.

Would you be willing to consider a “kamikaze” type mechanic?

We can run into a ship as you know and bump it…to make the align process longer/impossible, or to move a ship away from star gate spaceport etc.

What if we could not only bump it, but allow both ships to sustain appropriate damage for the event happening, rather than just allowing the targeted ship to be bumped?

The bump would still happen, but appropriate damage modifiers are used for the offending and targeted ship.

So, If targeted ship has “X” amount of (defense) shield/hull, damage would be “ Y” and/or “Z” to both attacking and targeted ship.

An Atron at full speed heading towards a much larger ship might hit the larger ship, causing some damage, bumping the alignment off but then quite possibly the Atron is destroyed depending on the amount of damage taken by performing this action.

The targeted ship not only is thrown out of alignment, but just like the attacking ship also sustains appropriate damage for the kamikaze action of the attacking ship(s).

Thanks,

Cellet

I would hope that the shields of ships would deflect an incoming vessel from it's path with focused fields (which in my mind is how bumping works anyway, a repulsive effect between the shield systems). The defender would simply angle the shield fields to deflect the incoming vessel to one side or another.

stealing someone elses response but:

so what happens if i sit on the jita undock so that ppl bump into me and me into them? i can suicide gank without CONCORD? i can suicide gank forever with logi reps?

'oh it should be CONCORDable' i hear u say. but if im sitting stationary on the undock and ppl are bumping into me, doesnt that mean undocking from jita gets u CONCORDed?

and so we go...

So literally all I need to do to kill a freighter is to slam a 100mn MWD, 1600 plate stabber into it? They have literally a million times more kinetic energy after all.

Exactly my reasoning why ships bounce off already due to the shield interaction...even a frigate at speed would wreck any size ship in reality

Multipliers can be changed accordingly to compensate for all of this.

Not saying it was perfect... But I'd like to smash 15 ships into the side of something sometimes.

Anyways.

Cheers...
