ah apparently i got so excited about ships finally being fixed in game i didn't read the thing properly .. you want to make physical models you can build and paint etc.... question being why??? how about fixing the in-game models instead....

The Machariel.
The size, well big enough to look impressive but try not to hurt people's wallets too much. Also, small enough to fit onto a reasonable bookshelf space. It could have lighting, or not, again the price might be more workable without and it won't make the model bad.

Mostly though, it's a ship that looks cool. And is also not easily identifiable as looking kind of like well-known ships from other sources, it's very Eve. Furthermore I think that whatever ships you choose should be ones where the models look good on their own, so that non-Eve players will be interested. Let's face it, no matter how awesome the Avatar is inside Eve, it's kind of weird-looking. The Machariel just looks badass sitting there.

There's a few other ships that come to mind, like the Omen or the Hyperion, that are similarly distinctive. I think the criterion that it has to look interesting to non-Eve players is important though.

Have you considered setting up a Shapeways shop and selling 3d printed on demand versions of all ships. They can print full color, and depending on the size, can be reasonably priced.

Pretty sure they mean they are making actual ship models, not redoing 3D graphics.
