ISDs - Lock all the 'bonus room' threads to stop RL threats

There are a large number of RL threats of violence (some veiled, some not) in the various threads discussing 'bonus rooms'. I've reported 4 already and have only read about 200 posts on those threads - if the 2% is indicative then there's probably 20+ RL threats in the one threadnaught already.

Wherever people stand on the questions of Teamspeak 'games' like 'ransoms for a song' or 'read the following garbage and I'll double your ISK' (I won't state my thoughts in this thread), RL threats cross a line that should not allowed to be crossed, and no thread on this issue seems to remain civil at all. It's even worse when the RL threats are made against someone considering running for the CSM, which would make their RL identity public and make those threats much more credible.

Agreed.

Everyone should just keep quiet until we know exactly who he is.

Perhaps the issue is that certain people are taking things out of EvE Online and into the real world. If someone humiliated me in RL, on teamspeak for example, which is not in game, its in RL, I'd probably wanna punch them in the head too.

I have never been threatened in RL, although I did have one EvE RL girl try to break up my relationship in RL because I war decced their corporation in game. Me and my RL girlfriend had a good laugh over that :)

HTFU in game, yes.

Out-of-game threats are a totally different matter. And that thread is a magnet for them.

If I'm playing poker and try to make someone mad so they go on tilt, that's unpleasant but within game rules. If I'm playing poker and pull a knife on someone then I'd go to jail.

Eh, E1 takes the con out of the game and back into RL themselves, and brings their victim in under false pretense. She/he initiates the out-of-game aspect, they can't use that as a defense when things don't go their way.

Odd that I've not seen the usual gloating forum post from E1 as yet though.

Now now ... why should CCP need to get involved when the perpetrators obviously took pains to take it out game?
No double-standards please ;)

They could have easily used EVE Voice to keep it all "in game," TeamSpeak just performs the same function better. Using voice comms does not take the matter "out of game" because an in-game method for communicating audibly is available.

Well, I don't keep tabs on details but weren't these fellows keen on to skipping the edges of the EULA and ToS by taking the "bonus room" into TS.
You can probably argue that takes it into the domains of a private conversation ...... i.e. just like a normal RL VoIP conference.

Now the question here, after taking obvious pains jolting the hornet's nest (i.e. setting yourself to be a "victim" deliberately), they're running back to hide under the EULA & ToS Big smile
But wasn't that a private conversation? What point is it to have CCP acting on it?

If you'd like to discuss this issue, please feel free to do so in the original thread that was created, and stop spamming the forums with new threads.

This is a situation that we've been monitoring for some time now, and recent events have sparked renewed discussion with regards to what, if anything will be done in regards to what's happened.

Thanks.
