I was a bonus room victim...

I agree wholeheartedly that the "bonus room" is just what Jester described: A torture chamber. I had the "pleasure" of becoming a bonus room contestant earlier this week, and it's just as bad as it sounds.

I had just come into some PLEX as a gift and had ISK to burn, so I - foolishly - decided to try out Erotica 1's "ISK Doubling Service." To my amazement, I actually "won" and my ISK was doubled. I double checked his rules, and tried to submit more ISK. This time, though, I was told that I had won a bonus room, and I had a chance to earn even more ISK by demonstrating my faith. I wasn't really interested, but I had no other chance to get the ISK that I had put in back.

I got into the bonus room, and after a bit of discussion, I was promised that I would get five times my investment if I showed complete faith. I didn't want to, but I felt so trapped, and the people in the room were very convincing. I finally began transferring all of my assets - about 5 billion ISK worth - to the members in the room.

After they had all of my assets, they told me that I needed to complete a few additional tasks. Once again, I didn't want to, but I felt like I had no choice, since they had all my assets. I had no idea what to do. They made me read some poetry and sections from various websites.

I thought I was done after this, but NO! I began to be sure that this was a scam, but I had to keep going. I was told to sing various songs. It was so humiliating, but all of my ISK and assets were in their hands. I could feel them laughing at me the whole time. I begged them to stop, but they wouldn't!

I finally gave up. They told me I was close, but I was sure I would have lost anyway in the end. I now have nothing, just a rookie ship, and I don't even know if I want to play EVE anymore. I used to PLEX my account, and I am just a college student, and these guys took everything from me - even my dignity.

Now, I have nothing left, but my Orca alt. Thought about a forum alt to post this, but what difference does it make anymore. With no dignity comes apathy. I am down, but not out, however.

I hope that I eventually can train to do the things I love doing in the game. Mining, missioning, some small gang stuff. But I know it will be a long climb. Those who wish to join me in combating this monster, Erotica 1, are welcome to join my corp. It isn't much, as I don't have much. But hopefully we can show these sociopaths we will not be stomped into oblivion.

The only one who hurt you was yourself, who forced you to stay in that teamspeak session? No one but yourself.
Who stole anything from you? No one, the isk and assets were CCPs anyway.

Your hurt feelings were of your own doing, I cant hit myself on the head and then cry at the police to arrest someone I dont like, it doesnt work that way.

Sorry you fell for the scam. It hurts me to see people fall for this What?

Trust no one in EvE is the motto. If it sounds too good to be true, then its scam.

Also, you could have cashed out the ''doubled out'' ISK but I guess greed gets the best of us every once in a while huh?

Good rules for life.

1. Any deal too good to be true, is a scam.
2. Don't be greedy, quit while you're ahead - A greedy person always losses everything in the end.
3. Don't trust anyone in Eve and Trust even less In Real Life.

You're welcome.

I agree with with everything said here, and I'll send you some ISK to help you get back on your feet. I hope this doesn't truly ruin the game for you, you just need to find the right people and this game becomes awesome.

To Clarify, I'm not Victim shaming. I feel bad for the kid and it is important they know that once they get out of school, these types of people will be surrounding them more often than not. He/she needs to develop street smarts quickly. Regardless if they are hustling or in corporate.

Always be wary.

That is a very kind gesture, but how do you know the OP is being truthful? He could be running a game and you fell for it. I will give only honest advice. Isk stays in my wallet.

This is a very true statement.

Never trust someone you meet from EvE. Chances are, they're just trying to lie/steal from you.

It's not the isk. I am rather looking for people of alike mind. Do you think cyberbullying is okay? I don't. I would like to see a community event specifically catered to the subject. Raise money, raise awareness. Do I need to run it? Of course not. But I do feel the need to come forward and share my experiences on the subject.

The next person might not be as easy-going and chin up about it as me. The next guy could be another sohkar.

So to be clear: **** everyone that hurts gullible artards?

Honestly, you thought you get get something for nothing, and you tried it and did. Then you thought you could get MORE for nothing, so you went for that too. Then when you had given away all your stuff, you chose to do some pretty stupid stuff when asked. How many times did you have to smash your head into your desk to kill off enough braincells to think that was a good idea?

And, of course, this thread becomes a testament to everything said in the Jester blog.

A person comes forth with their experience. Is met with ridicule and further bullying.

And you all wonder why he has his concerns.

Neither of these cases fall under cyber-bullying. The "victims" are not actively pursued or targeted. The "victims" presented themselves, voluntarily, to the situation, and were aware of all the risks involved. There were no threats made towards the "victims."

The "victims" who make threats hit more checkmarks on the cyber-bully list than anyone else involved.
