Dear gods is the recruitment channel still open?

I thought that got closed (deservedly) years ago.

I pity the poor ******* who stumble in there....

Lets be fair. As much as I enjoy helping new players, there are players that deserve a cesspit. Not that I encourage a bad new-bro experience, my frustration is more the:
1. How do I earn a plex during my trial period,
2. Can you give me X,
3. Talking mad **** to everyone they can possibly find
4. Telling you that you're wrong when you are explaining fundamental game concepts, especially fitting advise along the lines of don't armor & shield tank your ship, please don't use ubonused guns of different sizes/types.

It boils down to entitlement and attitude.

If you can't be bothered to chat someone up, use corporate want-ads, or the sub forum dedicated to such things then you may not be very particular about what corp is going to pick you up, and that may be fine. Hell, most groups advertise their PUB chat in their bios! At the very least you can creep on them for a couple days before sending an ap.

Oh think of the ISK sink....

If corps could rent billboard space in the starter systems.

Hey what happened to that hauler that was festooned with billboards? From a past contest I think.

Bring back DEEEEP Space!

Think of it more as a non-stop frat party with all the crude humour of the locker room thrown in... sort of like "Animal House", but without the togas.

Honestly most of the people who are serious about finding a corp that fits them the best will come to the forums. And any corp looking for the best recruits will do the same. The exception being "brand name" corporations and alliances who don't need to try very hard to get people to come to them.

The recruitment channel is indeed a mess. I would like to see it fixed but it's not the big of an issue.

ShockedUgh

OMG! After seeing this thread I decided to join the channel to see just how badly it had devolved since I last was in there. I barely made it out alive, I think I may have a form of PTSD now.
Jita local has nothing on the depravity and filth mongers of the recruiting channel. It's a vile and putrid gathering of those seeking to take advantage of new players to the game. It's filled with corp thieves, and other disgusting forms of low life truck stop washroom floor scum. Spammers regurgitate fecal matter at an alarming rate, trolls permeate the subject matter with their inane banter, and hate messages are spewed from the lowest forms of pathetic excuses for life. But you know what the most foul and hideous thing about the recruitment channel was? All the Goon alts (and quite a few non alts) that seem to hang there!Ugh

I need to go scrub myself with steel wool in the shower now!

Do not go in there! Unless it's to kill it with fire.

When did recruitment channel have anything to do with recruitment? Isnt it just the place where you find old missionrunners who have never read anything about the game they have been playing for years, so you can kill their ravens?

I've gotten several good people from the recruitment channel, it is NOT all spies, awoxers, etc. A full API key and a little common sense and the hazards can be avoided, in my experience.

I swear this entitlement word must be some creepy US code invented by evil old neocons. It's impossible to tell what is meant by context or usage, other than some blame the victim kick the weak sort of tripe.
No offense intended, along with literally it's a pox on our depleted language.

Recruitment channel fits Eve's image perfectly.

So, the 4 examples I had above it don't give the word any context?

The entitlement I refer to is players that think that everytime they log in someone in corp needs to plan activities for them to participate in (i.e. they either can't or won't run missions, mine, pvp, or explore solo because they lack the will or the capacity). That I should spend all my time running missions with them so that they can earn a plex, flat out asking for money because they want to buy something but don't want to do anything to earn it... General instant gratification vs. delayed gratification...

What is meant is that some people feel like because they exist they are important.

Even today while trying to recruit potential members for my corp. it has become literally impossible to do so with the all of the side conversations going on.

That channel has always been a generally terrible place to recruit - not impossible but time wise not really worth the bother (although worth keepin an eye on).

Forums advert (and watching for out for individuals posting corp requests) plus OOG social media always seemed more productive and worthwhile to me.
