im trying to get my minmitar standing up as far as i can, so ive been chipping away at the level 4's...

well last week i decided to make a note of my faction standings and have just checked them again now...
ive been doing missions for RPS, most of the time fleeted with my alt so he could get some standings too..

and to my surprise today my minmitar has gone down from 7.79 to 7.59

and my gallante has gone down from 6.37 to 5.51

ive been skipping the missions that are against caldari and ammar navy...

ive also removed a couple of my alts from my corp but i wouldn't have expected that to affect it...

does anyone know why this is happening? thx.

In the game open the character sheet, open the standing menu, double click the faction you want to investigate, this should give you a list of recent standing changes.

It will give you a list of recent events that have modified your standing, such as missions and engaging in combat.

Did you decline a mission within the cool-down period of the last mission you declined?

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

ty for that useful tip Dexington, i had a look and it says the reason was 'Derived Modification'

so i got the details up and it says "Minmatar Republic was displeased by actions on you performed against Minmatar Republic's friends, or for Minmatar Republic's enemies."

its happened on 2 occasions but i dunno what i did to make it happen...

no Goldie, afaik ive not declined any mission to cause me to loose standing, i just get a diff agent while i wait for the time to pass..

grrr :(

Derived Modification probably means you did something that gave you caldari or amarr faction standing, and as a result you lost minmatar and gallente standing.

You can check the caldari and amarr logs, and see if any time stamps match the time where you got the derived modification, if so it might tell you what exactly you did.

yeah i ran a couple of mission for Corporate Police Force so im thinkin its probably that, even though i didnt do any of the navy missions... but it looks as though they still altered it...

Any hit you get for an empire / faction standing (Gallente, Minmatar, Amarr, Caldari, SoE, Serpentis etc) will cause derived hits to other empires, positive or negative depending on how they like each other.

Exact math is currently unknown (and wrong in Evelopedia).

There's a couple of reasons for the negative derived standing hits.

Completing Storyline missions.
Attack / destroy Faction structures / ships.
Declining multiple missions with same agent in a 4 hr time period.

Anyway, 'The Plan' can help repair negative Faction standings as well as help boost positive Faction standings.
